Second Test - England v NZ

No one to blame but themselves if they dont win.

The decision to not enforce the follow on was daft, Compton and Trott's approach was ridiculous and there was no reason to bat as long as they did with the weather forecast in mind (which it should be regardless of Trott's spiel).

The decision to bat again and their approach was obvious though. Content with a 1-0 series win and get some batting practice in after an iffy year with the bat. Theyd have been hammered by the media if they were honest about that though so taking flak for a negative approach was the lesser of two evils.

Giving Compton another chance to ease the pressure on him

Could be right. Was a strange decision anyway - I can only imagine they didnt fancy chasing 150+ on a wearing wicket in gloomy conditions.

That said, the approach to batting Sat and Sun was pathetic.

Agree. However I can semi condone Compton being selfish, if my career was on the line I'd be the same.

Trott's innings was a disgrace (I say that assuming Flower hasn't ordered him to block). Cook has played similarly gutless innings before too, remember him scoring a plodding hundred against Sri Lanka a couple of years ago when we should have been racing to set a target.

Fair play to Bell, Prior, Root and especially Bairstow (also playing for an Ashes spot) who showed some balls yesterday. Prior has the most impressive stats in the side IMO when you factor how many times he sacrifices his wicket for the team.

They couldn't start in rain lighter than this earlier but yet they are still playing now. Just nee consistency.

Not that i'm complaining like

One more needed.

Forced to abandon TMS to catch Wilko Johnson on Radio 4. I expect it'll still be going at 4.

Shouldn't this match have been over a day and a half ago, at the very least?
