There's a difference between a struggling corner shop and a massive supermarket that wants robots as cashiers to appease shareholders, who probably need the extra cash to spend on diesel for their yacht

Its not greed though is it? Its maximising its profitability - all businesses do that regardless of size

I must admit if I had a business I certainly would not be trying to make as much money as possible I would just employ as many people as I possible could.

:lol::lol:

The bigger the company is, the more responsibility you have to look after those people that have made you that rich.
Or just be a kernt and fuck them all off for extra cash you could spend in the casino

backoffice staff - local HR & payroll functions being centralised by the looks of it
Moving to Type II service model consolidating internal providers to a single unit is a common business move when looking at cost savings.

We're doing it now, all purchasing, IT and HR are moving to a central function.

Initial savings made on local staff cuts are often outweighed by a drop in service quality which will eventually be passed on to the customers. At least short term while issues are ironed out. Too much change at once could affect them more.

Thick? They're unresponsive as fuck compared to any another supermarket, there's a good couple of seconds you have to wait for it to register you've pressed the screen. It's like going back in time using them.

Ah, apologies. I thought you meant all self serve checkouts, not one so in a specific supermarket.

You must work on the checkout then. Bet they call you 'quick tadger'

Erm...no.

I know, the truth hurts.

I put it down to the brexitears.m

No laughing matter, as you will find out.
You keep remoanding us of the consequences of leaving the EU though.
You were right, us clear racist, immigration thickos were wrong.

Something like that?

I have said very little, if anything, about immigration. I have other things to think about. You lot may be stupid but I wouldn’t go so far as to say thick. The cure for that will come when you have to eat less, it’s always food shortages that cause revolutions.

The biggest shareholders in most FTSE 100 companies are pension funds, so it’s in your interest they continue to make profits.

I use a checkout doris wherever possible in a one man quest to keep them in a job. Asda are pissing me off with this scan as you go thing that they've introduced and the way they're trying to force people to use it by cutting the number of checkouts open so you have to queue for ages.
The hours are cut in the store anyway
