I suspect they'll try to take Kyiv to force an "agreement" to make an "East Ukraine" where their people can be safe and let a rump "West Ukraine" type place carry on

It's too late.

Biden wouldn't commit US forced as he stated that is "a world war".

We couldn't do it alone and allying with the froggies has a chequered history.

Besides, the Ukrainians have had ample opportunity to assess this situation but chose to dig their heels in and continued to compete in the global corruption olympics.

I'm not excusing Vlad and reprehensible actions but the Ukrainian leadership have failed their people

Agreed - nonsense story, we made a loss in 20-21 but will be back in some sort of profit for 21-22. It's still a bit grim, but record increase in turnover, yay!!

Distressing images, I feel not only for the civilians, but the conscripts on both sides in particular. Cannon fodder to political egos. And instead of keeping the world safe, nuclear weapons shown up for the futile waste of resources they are. Countries too scared to join in because they exist, and Putin is counting on that. Why would it be different if he eyes up chunks of Poland?? We're in a bad place.

Tusk's tweet suggests Germany, Italy and Hungary are apprehensive to do so, presumably because of the economic impact to themselves.

It's not where planes are built but where they're registered. Basically any plane which has registration of G-XXXX is banned. G is the British code, believe the yanks is N - unsure on others.

You should try reading some of Edward Luttwak's work when he was advising US foreign policy. He claimed the strategy under Bush to ignite a war between Shias and Sunnis exceeded anything Bismark achieved and war between them could last 10 Millenia.

These grand strategists live in different head space to most of us and you can be sure we have a few advising our government.

I did the same with a Ukrainian I became mates with when working in Slovakia, I know he went back to Kherson when the work finished his brother was at uni in Kiev, haven’t got a reply from yesterday. Hoping he’s alright
 
Not sure how we would get weapons in now? The Russians will be controlling the airspace. The second we land an aircraft in Ukraine it will be seen as direct involvement.
