Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

The 100mile redline that you mention from the lower 48, remind me again how close is Ukraine to the Russian border and even if we discount Ukraine as moot (which it is as he's made sure we don't let them join) tell us how far the newer NATO members you mention are from the Russian border compared to your 100mile redline and then tell me Vlad doesn't have a point, it's as if you're saying he let Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia et al join so why the problem with Ukraine - I'm sorry like but in my book 4 (or more) wrongs don't make a right..
Why shouldn’t any of them be able to join? They’re independent nations and free to do what they like.

Russia are ultimately responsible for war, but what the hell were the EU (and NATO) thinking?! These organisations were meant to be about peace, not endless expansion.
Genuine question cos my knowledge of NATO has gone from very little to a little more in a few days, what does it matter if more countries join? Surely that helps with the aim of peace?

NATO aren't sending troops across boarders and firing missiles into houses. It's not like by joining NATO Ukraine would suddenly become a big threat is it?

Another reason to double-down on efforts to use things other than gas then

Apparently its likely to be a non runner given Continental Europe's exposure to Russian hydrocarbons.

This is going to be the problem, coordinating a response. Ultimately it will be a toothless set of sanctions imo.

It seems that Vlad considers the Ukraine joining Nato to be a threat as that would put Nato on his doorstep. To counter this he has invaded the Ukraine which moves his border further west on to Nato's doorstep

but they don't want to be part of it that's the point. As a democratic nation they have the right not to have the closest country keep taking bits off them
The principle is absolutely correct.

Reality is often quite different, as they're finding out.

The geo-political bandwagon doesn't care about principles, especially when the driver is drunk with power.

Who could possibly support Putin when they see stuff like that? f***ing hateful c*nts.
Nobody really "supports" Putin outside of the hard core in Russia. The rest of the world just excuses him, looks the other way, or decides it's better to acquiesce than do anything.

How can anyone want f***ing war when this is possible man. People have disagreements, f***ing argue throw a few fists, but fuck me, after thousands of years on the planet we still have to resort to wars and killing each other.

I’m not some soft shite Mother Nature type, but it’s just pathetic man. The world as a whole needs to grow the fuck up, it’s always the public that suffer because of there shit.

Ukrainan MP on Sky saying they've lost a lot of territory in the south but seems to be bashing them back in other places. But now they're trying to go through Chernobyl so theyre fighting there. 100 russian deaths, 60 Ukraine deaths. The military is well prepared he says for this.

Well exactly. Shouldn't make any difference whether NATO is on his doorstep and with him next door countries should have every right to look after themselves.
