Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Indeed. And that’s where Speakman’s comments about improvement were always going to be put under the microscope. Because if the club expect progress and an improvement on last season whilst seeing our two leading scorers and arguably best players depart without financing adequate replacements then they’re on another planet.

They have 24 hours to do that now despite knowing Amad was away and Stewart was likely to depart after not signing a new deal. That is cutting things incredibly fine and doesn’t reassure me about succession planning at all. Under previous regimes, any business we do tomorrow would be labelled panic buying.

I don't really care what owners and directors say mate. On the pitch, our recruitment and progression has been mostly very positive over the past couple of years.
Do you think we would've went up last season had Ross Stewart stayed fit?

No idea. He didn't and we didn't.

Why ffs? The lad has exercised his right by not agreeing the contract we have offered him. He has moved to get paid what he believes he is worth with a club who think he is a better option than Cannon even though he is currently injured and six years older. Without him we might still be in L1.

Imagine the melt down on here tomorrow when Stewart fails his medical! (Don’t want him, he can fook off, money grabber) etc etc

Will you still quote it if we improve the squad tomorrow?

Yes I will.

Thank you Ross Stewart, class player who our ownership didn’t think was worth keeping for an extra £5k per week that he was offered. The lad has simply exercised his right by not agreeing the contract we have offered him. He has moved to get paid what he and Southampton believe he is worth and with a club who think he is a better option than Cannon even though he is currently injured and six years older. Without him we might still be in L1.
