Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Players will always look for better deals. I imagine even if Luke ‘Mr Sunderland’ O9 himself was offered more money from another club he would have to consider it. It’s just the way the world is. I’m still uneasy about Jack Clarke.

Surely Clarke wont go now!?

Absolutely not.

Gutted were selling him but that's football!!

We'll all still be here after many more Ross Stewarts will pass through our ranks..

Players are transient but we are Sunderland.

In the future I wouldn’t but if he struts out and plays on Saturday I would as he would have been totally taking the piss last few weeks!

I think we should (we won't though and I won't try and lead any).

Always find a bit cringey when we give players who've decided they don't want to be here a good reception. Should be trying to make it as awful as possible for them. Some won't care at all, but I genuinely think Bent only missed on his return because of the reception he got.

Great bit of business.
Now, invest the money wisely.
Hopefully we'll get something for Gooch and Pritchard who are in the last years of their contracts and Pritchard has been a bit of a moaner and upset a few and Gooch we have better.
Presumably.

"Lynden Gooch
will have a medical at Stoke tonight.

The club have agreed a permanent deal with Sunderland and a two-year contract with the player."

Do you listen to anything the club have said? Clearly not.

Yes the odd asset or 2 will be sold to find the process, but we won't be selling our whole team every season.

I’ve noticed you get very shirty very quickly with anyone with a slightly different viewpoint. If it was the other way round with barbed responses like that you’d be crying blue murder as you did with your thread a couple of weeks back.

I’ve listened to plenty that the club have said and I think you may be misrepresenting what they’ve said previously. Just in the summer Speakman said the aim this season was to be better than last. If the model is as you describe it, and we don’t fill the void left by Stewart and Amad with ready made replacements and just go for longer term potential, then we won’t progress or improve this season. That’s just basic logic.

Loved watching him play for us, always worked his socks off and really great goal return in league one and for ten games in championship. His two different injuries have wrecked what could have been promotion last season with long term lucrative contract following.
He's off for money, surprise, surprise.
We have always been a selling club (when we have tried not to be it generally hasn't turned out well, Ndong, Rodwell etc etc) and probably will be for the foreseeable.
Who knows if we did enough to keep him, but a fee of that size for a last year of contract player who has been out as long as he has looks a good deal if, if, if we spend on a decent replacement.
