Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

I don’t hold a grudge against him. He’s decided against renewing his contract here so we’ve cashed in.

No issues with it or him. Just need to make sure we get a couple of strikers in tomorrow (Rusyn and one other).

I’d be interested to know what makes a guaranteed add on! I’m assuming it’s linked with amortisation and accountancy as opposed to player performance otherwise how could it be guaranteed?!

At face value it’s a good deal. I think I posted on here previously that the club would accept £8m for him so to squeeze another couple of million is good. However, it’s only a good deal if we follow it up with a good buy of our own. Another bairn that may or may not come good in the next three year isn’t satisfactory. Nor is a loan.
Guaranteed add-ons are usually time-based instalment payments. For example, this could be structured so that £10m is up front, with £2m at the end of the season, or £1m in 6 month instalments. It's usually for budgeting purposes.
The other methodologies could be based on hitting targets with payment on, for example, first goal, Ten goals, whatever. However, with it being guaranteed it means it will be when he scores ten or the end of the season, whichever happens first.

A sudden £15m bid from Burnley and youll be watching Jewi until January when we might go for Arevena when his season is over
I really don’t see it, Stewart’s value declines rapidly from tomorrow given he’s out of contract in June. As for Clarke a bid of 15 million and more could arrive in January and subsequent windows, would be Amazed if we sold Clarke.

A very good player for us but when clubs with more ambitions and more money come calling there is nothing we can do.

A shame that he won’t be in the red & white of us anymore

Good luck lad

I’ll be honest, I love him as a Sunderland player and hope he fully recovers his physical fitness but that his form falls off a cliff for this season at least if he does indeed pass his medical and sign for Southampton.

We have. Club have leaked the fee to the locals.

£8m up front
£2m guaranteed add ons
£2m addons not guaranteed (Southampton promoted)
Plus a sell on fee.

Or - and this is hard to imagine, as we all know how honest clubs are in dealings with fans, and wanting to bend over backwards to treat them fairly - they've leaked an exaggeration of what the potential fee is.

What I'd like to hear is - what is a guaranteed add-on?
