Running Thread 2026

Can’t get going this year, niggles stopped me doing more 120km in Jan. Now laid up with a chest infection.

Really frustrating 2 months

Everyone active are doing a discount code for the Sunderland 10k

Trouble is the code was cut off on the treadmill screen so couldn't see it 🤣

Hopefully get the code next week

Some reasonably nice weather coming over the next few days, be glad to ditch the hat and gloves for a run 🙌

Early forecast calls for rain next weekend at the Boro HM. Haven't raced at that distance much but quietly confident of running under 1h40m for the first time since 2022

You’re smashing it at the minute mate. 1:40 well within reach for you

Cheers, won't be too long for your race either is it?

Just curious to see where I'm at tbh, vast majority of the last couple months running has been steady going and wrapped up in layers.

Always get a small boost running along other people and back on the caffeine tablets and beetroot shots for the race so hoping for good things. PB from like 2020 is 1:34 so just trying to get down as close to that as possible if not beat it to aid the long term goal of a sub 3h30 marathon.
Question for the avid runners. Do you wear different running shoes in the winter and the summer or just wear the same?
With my mileage I'll probably go through a few pairs a year, but I won't buy some specifically for winter.

March 22nd for mine. Had a good session last night which was a confidence booster.

Few HM pace time trials over the next couple of weeks in the plan so will find out where I’m really at then!

Same year round with a couple of provisos. Fresh laying snow or slush I wear trail shoes for grip & hard packed snow or ice I wear my racing flats & just drop the pace & shorten my stride.

Exactly the same - and unlike most runners I always wore the same shoes for racing as for training.
My once a week run is mainly off road. In the muddy, wet winter, my running shoes live in the garage.

I'm finding the Evos very good for tempo and race pace. Asics Sonicblast are my current everyday trainer, and I've used my old Salomon mudclaws for the recent winter league season.

Couldn’t be wearing a plated shoe for every day mind. Got the Megablast and Superblast 2 for everyday. Have just bought the mizuno zen 2 to replace the superblast mind as they’re about 600km in. Still feel good mind so not changing yet

Are the Sonicblast plated, or did you mean something else?

Just checked, they're astro plate. I always assume people are referring to carbon plates.
