If he gets the job, I'd be more than happy to be wrong!Keane would give us an outstanding chance of promotion this season. Bookmark it.
2007-8 wasn't a good season, we lost 21 games and only won 11.2 good seasons*
Hardly bottled it. Was his first job in management. Was ultimately inexperienced in the PL and it was time for us to part ways at the time. Didn't disgrace the club like Moyes for example at the end either.
Some people talk utter dirt about him which is mental considering where he took us from.
Not been a feel good factor around the entire City like that since (maybe with BSA). People forget how exciting those times were.
High press is what City and Liverpool play. It's completely different. We're using a data approach to recruitment and want to sign young players. Would Keane accept that? He also was critical of sports science and had a go at coaches like Klopp for using it. I don't think he's cut out for the modern game. Not really they've just renamed it the high press.
Name them. This was far more true of Steve Bruce than it was Roy Keane.A fair amount of his signings worked out, not sure i agree they far outweighed the bad but it's more than his scattergun approach led to us being stuck with alot of players on big contracts when they were no use to us (some were never even useful at all, did david healy ever even play for us? we were stuck with him for years iirc)

Was that the air guitar failed record game with saxon. Was a good day.I don't think so, many remember Keano for establishing high standards at the club, remember when we best shef wed away 4-2 I think it was and he went mental because we almost threw it away? He raised the entire professionalism and standards across the place and took us to promotion and kept us there. He is a massive character, tell me last time we had a manager do well here who wasn't a larger than life character? Keane, Sam, McCarthy to certain extent, Reid.
Grayson, Ross, Parkinson do not have the characteristics to succeed here.
That's because you can't. He never really saddled us with anybody on a big contract that was no use. McCartney is the closest you'll get, but he featured regularly under Keane and Sbragia, and in Bruce's first season. It wasn't 'til he picked up a couple of injuries and fell out of favour that he disappeared.nah you're ok thanks, it was nearly 20 years ago
if you think he was great in the transfer market thats fine, it's ok for us to disagree
I'm not sure a young chairman could control him...... by God though, imagine the ground for his first matchNot sure he's the right choice but he'd have massive support and I would be far more confident of promotion than under Johnson. Can't see it happening.
Roy Keane got the cameras installed at the SOL to collect data on the players. Ground covered, etc etc. He isn't some dinosaur, far from it.High press is what City and Liverpool play. Keane was actually quite decent at moving players on that either didn't fit in or weren't up to it.
They cost buttons man. Squad players who wound up out on loan. Happens all the time.aye, except the likes of the already mentioned healy who sat on the bench for 3 of 4 years. seem to remember having high hopes for russell anderson anarl but not sure he ever made an appearance either. but you're right, i can't really remember random players from nearly 2 decades ago that barely made an impact on our team, i just remember at the time it felt like alot of money was wasted. his most successful signing id have said was kenywne jones, luckily nugent turned us down, and we barely made a profit on him in the end
but it's all about opinions like. i think he did a tremendous job in his first season here, and did an ok job at first in the prem which slowly petered out. i just don't get the love in for him on here, especially wanting him back

That’s actually not a bad shout. He can’t sign anyone now so he‘d have to go with speakman’s squad. He‘d know by the end of the season if he can work in the clubs structure and we’d know if he’s any good as a head coach. You can guarantee he wouldn’t settle for anything less than everything the players have. On a 6 month contract. Option of another year or 2 if he gets us up. Let’s roll the dice.
There’s no one else I’ve heard so far that sounds exciting.
He'd be totally unsuited.Should be installed as manager by tomorrow morning.
He's exactly what we need right now
I dont think a guy like Roy Keane would take any role with a DOF who might get in his way ref recruitment.Cant see him working under our structure nor give up his nice little Sky earner. No way IMO
