Ross Stewart

Hope the lad can have a Quinn style post-injury-nightmare renaissance but his game is very different to Quinny who didn’t rely on his pace.

Fair play to him for holding out for the best contract he could possibly get. Clear at the time it was probably his last chance at a big pay day, and he may be relying on it for his future.

Maybe needs to do what Kenwyne did after his injury (and Michael Owen to a degree) here and bulk up a touch to protect things and adjust his game, playing more with his back to goal as a target man as I think hes clever enough to do that. Though obviously that's not going to be at the top level.

At 28 and his size and frame he's not going to be running in behind or into the channels much anyway.

Thank god we never got him to sign that new deal here.
Sad to say, but I think he’s career is finished. I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s contract was fully paid up at the end of the season like

Why would he accept that? He's got years to run and he'll want to get fit - its a two way thing and he'll no doubt want to continue as anyone would.

Absolutely no chance.

Was 100% the right decision to sell him but I'll always appreciate what he did here. Great for us and wish him nothing but the best.

Watched Southampton away at Bournemouth on Monday and he looked pretty sharp running into channels etc but they're not set up to utilise his strengths.

Russell Martin kidding himself they're playing football "the right way" but they are guaranteed to go down the way they set up. Another sucked into thinking he's Guardiola.

Played his best football for us during an 18 month period, glad he has a contract that secures his family’s future, unfortunately his body is not up to the demands of top level professional football. Thanks for the memories LND 👍

I wonder if Southampton go up if theyd want to send RS out on loan.

Sounds daft considering the money they spunked on him but then hes hardly kicked a ball in the last 2 years, would be difficult for him to get back up to speed in the Prem.

Would be ironic if we loaned him for half a season and paid his wages!
cant remember where i read it but they said exactly the same thing, they said he would end up back in the championship or top end league 1.

It was the obvious choice. Didn't want to be here, always injured. Move along, son

Played pretty much every minute of promotion season, and simply wanted what he was worth.
That he got seemingly terminally injured and we would not pay him what he wanted made it an easy decision to sell him and the correct decision.
Lets not he cynical and disingenuous, more than any player he contributed to us being out of the hell hole which was the 1st Division. He should be lauded on here for that alone.
