Then why are Newcastle in the Champions League and Manchester United are nowhere? Why did Palace win the FA Cup? Why are Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton at the peak of their powers? Why are Forest in Europe?I hate them as much as the next man but this is just making the big clubs pull further and further away. It was supposed to level the playing field but it’s making it worse.
You’re lucky. Mine acts as a cartel. My wife acts as my own personal PSR
Isn't PSR taken over a 3 year rolling period? The self awareness of some of them is amazing.
The club spends the best part of £700-800m but then some of them are having a moan about how PSR isn't getting us for spending £170m.
Mines a long haired generalYou’re lucky. Mine acts as a cartel.
If it bites us in the arse in a few years time we'll be full of hell.

This is what the mags don't understand, sell some players and you can reinvest. All they want is a closed shop. With Doak going to Bournemouth, Liverpool have earned over £200million from transfers this window. THAT really helps!
cos as a club, we're well run. They know how to make a good deal and hence the reason why we offered young players on a 4 or 5 years contract. Its an excellent good business. You must be logged on to see external links
This is not ‘totally’ aimed at the skunks bleating about ‘Profit and Sustainability Rules’ although they were VERY happy at being “thu richist clerb in thu worrld”. (They were happy at an uneven playing field rather than a more level one).
No….this is aimed at Villa and Forest and Man City (when they are eventually brought to book) et al.
Football was eating itself before these rules came in. It is surely good for the game that ALL clubs are reading from the same hymn book.
Yes, of course, some clubs will be better run than others….that is how competition works….and YES the rules are far from perfect as yet, with too many loopholes.
BUT for the betterment and longevity of the game in England, PSR is surely the right way to go.
…..And I hope to god that WE have had the calculator out to check that we are behaving sustainably!!
(Any thoughts on this?…my fine SMB cohorts)
Brentford & Bournemouth have had there little day in the sun. they will soon disappear down the leagues. The Fa cup is a one off competition that the big clubs care less and less about. There are 9 clubs in Europe so someone has to fill them spaces. Then why are Newcastle in the Champions League and Manchester United are nowhere? Why did Palace win the FA Cup? The playing field is closer now than it was 15 years ago imo.
Please don’t let facts get in the way of a good moanVilla voted against PSR in 2013. The mags voted in favour.
Obviously when they were taken over they tossed the toys out the pram. 'The cartel has brought in new rules to spite wah!'
They helped bring the 'new' rules in 12 years ago![]()
This.cos as a club, we're well run. They know how to make a good deal and hence the reason why we offered young players on a 4 or 5 years contract. Its an excellent good business.
But they’re not.Brentford & Bournemouth have had there little day in the sun. they will soon disappear down the leagues. The Fa cup is a one off competition that the big clubs care less and less about. There are 9 clubs in Europe so someone has to fill them spaces.
I am talking long term the rich 5 are untouchable.
The mags have raised less than £30M in sales. Liverpool and Chelsea over £200M.The Mags whinge about PSR despite selling next to nobody, all whilst having a world PL record bid on the table to alleviate any potential PSR strain from Liverpool. They have little commercial accumen and sign predominantly British players, for over-inflated fees with little to no re-sale value.
The issue is themselves.
Look where Man U and Spurs finished last year. But they’re not.
Look at Utd. “Long term” they were untouchable. Things happen in cycles. Just because it’s not in your time frame doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
In the long run, club's with the biggest financial muscle will be on top yes, PSR restricts that if anything though.Brentford & Bournemouth have had there little day in the sun. they will soon disappear down the leagues. The Fa cup is a one off competition that the big clubs care less and less about. There are 9 clubs in Europe so someone has to fill them spaces.

Now (bizarrely) some of them are whinging about our spendingThey didn’t give a monkeys until they realised they couldn’t buy success at the rate they wanted
I read something yesterday by a "PSR expert" who said we should be fine as it's very likely we were in PSR profit coming into the PL, which wasn't the case with Forest. It bit Forest when they did similar spending to us.
Which is less than a quarter of theirsNow (bizarrely) some of them are whinging about our spending
Justin it's a bit hypocritical given they voted yes to it.Haway Mr Timberlake!
