PSR whinging

All the mags do is complain. Every article, every post about how hard done by they are:

- Isak is a disgrace etc don’t let him leave
- Brentford ffs! Why won’t they let Wissa leave
- Cartel won’t let wuh spend!

This is not ā€˜totally’ aimed at the skunks bleating about ā€˜Profit and Sustainability Rules’ although they were VERY happy at being ā€œthu richist clerb in thu worrldā€. (They were happy at an uneven playing field rather than a more level one).

No….this is aimed at Villa and Forest and Man City (when they are eventually brought to book) et al.
Football was eating itself before these rules came in. It is surely good for the game that ALL clubs are reading from the same hymn book.
Yes, of course, some clubs will be better run than others….that is how competition works….and YES the rules are far from perfect as yet, with too many loopholes.
BUT for the betterment and longevity of the game in England, PSR is surely the right way to go.

…..And I hope to god that WE have had the calculator out to check that we are behaving sustainably!!

(Any thoughts on this?…my fine SMB cohorts)

There's lots of issues here.

Man City need to be brought to book along with other transgressors.
The League needed new rules because clubs were taking the piss.
PSR is a start that probably needs reviewing at some point.
And a lot of changes to the PL have been brought in with the more powerful clubs helping shape the rules to their benefit.
Villa, Forest and the mags are just upset that they can't act with impunity as others have done before them so I've no sympathy for their point.

What we need is a more level playing field to give greater competition - not leaving loopholes open.

My only issue with it is that it pulled the drawbridge up behind the big six. I’m all for protecting clubs from overspending under feckless owners and going bust, but there’s no catching the clubs with years of champions league, world club cup revenue, or the ones that spent billions before the rules came in. If it was a level playing field I’d be all for it but it’s clearly far, far harder for the other 14.
you won't be saying that when we win the league this season. 😜

Barely. They're currently in the europa league after finishing 6th/7th.

I'd happily take that punishment
Forest were lucky that the bottom 3 were shit that season. Knowing our luck a 7 point deduction would mean relegation.

But but cewuption!

Like lying about state ownership and buying a £7M keeper for £20M to cheat PSR...
Who did they sell to Forest for a ridiculously inflated fee?

I am sure they’d have manipulated it more too, had other clubs not noticed they were getting their Saudi clubs to bid phenomenal amounts. It backfired when people proved not to be absolutely stupid.

If there’s one good thing out of this, it’s the Saudis are desperate to be seen in a positive light and darent rock the boat too much. That means the mags end up claiming all sorts because they’re too scared to bite the hand that feeds and it makes them look even more ridiculous.

How come Man City & Chelsea can just spend what they like, not to mention Man U & Liverpool. There needs to be rules but the playing field should be a bit more level.
Eh?

The playing to the same set of rules. Chelsea and Liverpool have sold lots of players for big money this summer.

Man Utd have spent a ridiculous amount for Sesko imo. That’s not buying better. That’s being desperate mugs. The city bubble has been on a bit of a precipice too.

All they’re doing is getting charged more for players. Not an ideal situation and eventually it bites them in the arse (see Utd).

….and Forest were bleating on when they overspent and were reined in.
We're Forrest as savvy as us in the run up to the premier league? Also I feel our model to sell talent such as job should help us keep things in order so that we're able to keep on bringing in new talent and not stunted. By cheap (by premier league standards and sell with high profit margins)

The Mags whinge about PSR despite selling next to nobody, all whilst having a world PL record bid on the table to alleviate any potential PSR strain from Liverpool. They have little commercial accumen and sign predominantly British players, for over-inflated fees with little to no re-sale value.

The issue is themselves.
