Polis Costs

I wish they would employ somebody. It is just absorbed by people into their working day. I am currently onto my 4th hour sorting one request. All because a marketing company want to know something for their client
Yes, I phrased that wrong, it costs money for people's time to do it. Often journalists out loads in on a fishing trip to find a story that isn't there so it's of no use after all that work.

The only way it seems Sunderland can get costs down is by telling the police that we will steward our own land and that they don't need to come onto it. That in itself will cost money, so can we do it cheaply and effectively enough to please the police and save money?

Even worse is the same request with different date periods. Complete and utter waste of my time looking and it proves nothing to the requestor.

FOI is advantageous in some respects as you can ask for information which holds the public body to task on things but most of it is bo11ocks

just been reading this Chron’ bit there about the most heavily policed games at SAFC & NUFC last season.
Mags : v Everton, attendance 50,000(?) - Police present : 61.
SAFC : v Boro, attendance 27,000(?) - Police present : 587.

Almost ten times the coppers present for a game with practically half the attendees. I know it’s the half-derby but f***ing hell, SD and CM are right to kick up a fuss about policing costs there. Surely a rabbit away somewhere.

Sorry if SEB as fuck like.

Aye, but an easy way for to get your wages up. Watch the match and get paid.....where do I sign?

Non at the safc v mags under 23 game ....( probs max 800 in total there)..big mistake.Should have been therr.
Its not the amount of people i guess but the likelyhood of bother that should dictate how many cops should be present.

Officers don't get paid overtime for games. They are either on duty anyway or get their days off cancelled to be re-allocated at a later date.

Ok thanks for that....... bit of a bummer to get day off cancelled. Hey - ho been there in a previous life.

It would be nyerestimg the see the figures excluding the Boro game. That’s a higher risk game and not a great comparison. Looking at the figures for our other games would give a more reasonable indication of how much NP have taken the piss out of us.

I agree with this, I always thought the police took the piss with policing costs, but I thought it would be the same for both clubs.

But they have always treated the 2 clubs differently. After the 1st leg of the play off semi-final Northumbria's finest announced any Sunderland fans found in any of the home areas for the second leg would be ejected from the stadium. Why wasn't that applied to the hoss punching fuckers before the 1st leg. I even rang radio Newcastle and spoke to some Police officer live on air to ask why there was a difference in policing in the 2 grounds. His response went "Waffle, waffle, waffle, bull shit " and didn't answer the question. The host of the show asked me if that answered my question. I said no, he hasn't answered why there is a difference in policy for the 2 games. I was then thanked for my call and they moved onto the next caller. This led to me and my mate watching from The Milburn stand with our gobs shut, but fuck me when that second one went in, it was like trying to hold a volcan0 in :) In the first leg the hoss botherers made themselves known and were given a nice escort to The Roker End to join the other gravy stained bastards

Ah well 0-2

The plod will probably be using resources already shifted in to work to try and keep the overtime down. Probably charging the club for overtime rates, just ripping Ellis off like everyone else and his dog was.

Rates are set by the Home Office. However, the numbers are decided by the police. One key factor is that the police can only charge for officers on club land. In the case of St James Park, this effectively means only the ground - until you go through the turnstile there, you're on public land, and policing there is paid by the taxpayer. By contrast, the whole of the SoL site is private land, and the club gets charged for every officer on it. So we pay for PCs to stand by the away turnstiles, and they don't.

Still seems a huge difference on the
figures for police numbers that were attending which were being quoted last week

Indeed, you only have to ring the non emergency number to get a quick understanding of how shabbily Northumbria police are organised.
