he caught a 100 kg bomb dropping down the the shaft then hoying it back up and blowing up the heinkel that dropped it,daft as a brush was old Ralphy.
The only other thing I wanted to mention is that as ald I noticed that there was what looks like a bomb crater in the field behind Grants Houses and always had me thinking if was caused during the war, if you go on google earth you can still see it between the right hand end of grants houses and the railway line, its in a field

Is it owt to do with this fella? The pilot was the only Halifax Bomber pilot awarded a VC in the war.
The plane had come from the Air Base at a place called Burn which is the next village along the A19 from where I live near Selby. Its home to a Gliding Club now.

aye. it flew over NEAM as part of it's last tour. BAE, Rolls Royce withdrew tech support (I guess the parts and people were difficult to get hold of!) so it can't have it's CAA certificate...Really? Wonderful sight in the air.
@cocky works on BBMF. Maybe that's who ya thinking of?Made me jump a little there - isn't there a poster on here who flies in one these days? Posts some great photos.
