Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has ruled out a move to Newcastle after rumours emerged linking him to Rafael Benitez's newly promoted side.

The 23-year-old has impressed for the recently relegated Black Cats this season, attracting the interest of a number of Premier League clubs in the process.

Newcastle are reportedly one of them, alongside the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton, but Pickford has categorically dismissed any possibility of a future switch to the Magpies.

Speaking to Sky Sports - via the - Pickford claimed that the decision of former teammate Jack Colback to join Newcastle would not influence him to do the same.

“Jack’s playing on the other side of the water these days unfortunately,” said Pickford. “I would never do that.

“I couldn’t do it myself. I would never go to Newcastle. [Leaving Sunderland] is not something I’ve looked at yet and it’s not something I want to look at either.”
Those quotes were from an interview he did on sky sports on an interview where he showed a presenter around the AOL before the Man Utd match, and before we were relegated. If Northern Echo have just reposted them now to read new meaning into them then that's poor journalism on their part.
They were looking at pictures of academy graduates and the presenter asked if he fancied following the ginger piss biscuit, and his response was definitely not, and I'm not keen on leaving the club but who knows what the future holds. At the time there was still hope for us to stay up, given that we've just been relegated I'd imaging he's reconsidering.
I wouldn't let the quote give you any hope.

He's a quality player who's living the dream, however, I don't suppose Henderson was that keen to leave but if the club makes it obvious they're happy to sell if the price is right, he'll be flogged to the highest bidder.

I don't care when he said it, The lads a MLF and if short has any sense (I know that's asking a lot) he would want the manager to build a team around him. He really wants us to do well and has pride in the club...

Good question.. the future of our club local lads in the team, its the only way

Great news buy the lad a packet of ginger biscuits, he obviously knows the score.

He could just refuse to move and see out his contract then retire. Just for spite like.
Sounds like stating the obvious but I do know he just wants to play. Was told, from a canny source, that the medical team have to keep a really close eye on him because he might say he's fine when he's not just because he wants to play.
So I don't think he'd go somewhere where he was going to get spelks in his bum bench warming.

I watched his tv interview a week or two ago where he said he "...would love to be playing for Sunderland next season in The Premiership..."

It sounded like he chose his words very carefully.

Not claiming to be ITK but he HAS been offered £75000 a week from the mags, Id hate to see him go but who could blame him for that. Footballers are not supporters like us! They say what they need to to keeps fans happy! Of course he is going to say (6 weeks ago by the way) I'd never sign for Newcastle what else could he say with the mentality of our fans. "Oh of course id play for Newcastle, Why wouldn't I?" Just in case he upsets Timmy from Pallion!! We have got to get realistic sometimes.

He'll be away and he may not come across as pushing for it, but he'll get his move.

Might not be his choice if we get a £12m bid and the club accept it
£12m in todays markey no thanks!

I would say 30m minimum

Knowing safc a club will offer £20m and we will say yes OK we will accept £15m.

This is one of our only prize assests
