Pickford wants to stay

Of course he did he's a Sunderland lad he was told we needed the money so he was leaving

So hang on, you seriously believe he did not want to leave to join Liverpool and was effectively forced to leave when we accepted a transfer offer, even though he was still under contract and therefore could have stayed?

Yes if he's told he's leaving thats it really they would of just put him in the reserves until he left the club needed they money they would of told him that, it's a well known fact he didn't want to leave

Easiest way would be to sell him, but then put a Pickford mask on Mika because no one really knows what he looks like.

Anyone see a flaw in my idea?

But they wouldn't have put him in the reserves. He looked chuffed to pieces to have signed for Liverpool and I didn't blame him. To suggest he didn't want to leave to join such a big club and win trophies is mental. I appreciate he had an affinity to the club but as an ambitious player who had dreams of being an England regular, he'd have realised it was a necessity. Yes, the club no doubt will have said they needed the money, but had he decided to stay, they wouldn't have kept him in the reserves man.

It's a well known fact he was told Liverpool have made a ridiculous offer and we have accepted it he never wanted to leave

Well it's not well known as I hadn't heard of it. We wanted to sell him, he was happy to go to Liverpool. Simple as that really. Unsure why you're getting so precious about it. He never came out and said he wants to stay at Sunderland from what I can remember when he was being linked with a move away. If you find a quote to suggest otherwise, I'll happily apologise.

Is it? Not to me. Pickford, just like Henderson will be away. Difference is they'll be clever about it and not demand moves.

That's what he's saying and it's the truth.

He wants to stay, he knows he could be here for another season or two build his reputation further and still get his big move if he wanted to. The only reason he'll leave this summer is if we have a big offer the club accepts, he'll not push for it.

if it is what we think off as a low fee (£10m ) say we better have a 20% sell on clause because he will end up at a utd or Chelsea in the future I`m sure , infact if De Gea does go Jose may take a gamble on him as Utds long term keeper , I think I would

He just might you know. It's in his best interests imo, if he has a few shite games for us we will always look past it and always stick up for him, if he goes to Everton or somebody bigger he will be under huge attention especially in the big games, 3 poor games at the highest level and the media will jump on it. At his age he's bound to have a dodgy patch, nowhere better to do it than at us. It's all about reputation preservation for young keepers. If he brings us back up and performs to the same standard as he has this season in a season in which we stay up the he is in a much more stable position moving forward in his career. Would Hart have been as assured and confident in his early City career without the building blocks at Shrewsbury and Birmingham ?

We need to hold out for a decent fee.

If we are going to start thinking long term on buying then we need to think long term on selling as well.

Anything around £10 or £12m - walk away.

It's easier said than done mind.
