So that automatically means Phillips would be poor?Quinn had a go. I don’t remember that working out too well.
So that automatically means Phillips would be poor?
Whilst I'm on the fence re Phillips, don't you think he instantly be granted more patience by our fans, courtesy of who he is? Nobody is going to desperate tarnish a club legend.
Lampard is having a good start. How many examples are there of players going back to clubs and being successful as a manager?
Lampard is having a good start.
Has he not retired yet....he seemed old when I started following the lads in 1985!...according to Ian Murtagh.
Not for me.
Would hate for his “legend” to be ruined if he came and failed as a manager.
So that automatically means Phillips would be poor?
Roy Keane oozes authority. Phillips has a squeaky voice. Why the hell not, Roy Keane had no experience yet he galvanised the club and we were promoted.
Also SKP has been an assistant manager so does have some experience.
How on earth would he ruin his legacy? Definitely give him a chance and if it doesn’t work out so be it. Shearer relegated the mags ffs
Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.Loads then?
Roy Keane has managed in 8 years and hasn't been a success in his last 3 coaching jobs.Roy Keane oozes authority. Phillips has a squeaky voice.
Agreed. The chance of him improving his stock amongst the fans or even maintaining it is next to zero.It will only end in tears.
This lot need a nasty fucker who will take no nonsense and that's not SKP
No!...according to Ian Murtagh.
You think he wont be given a bit more time?
I do...stole a livingHe stayed here far longer than he should have, could've jumped ship few years earlier for his own career. Bet he wishes he fucked off then and I don't blame him.
Isn't it almost all of them? I mean how many managers have never played? Is that what you meant? How many examples are there of players going back to clubs and being successful as a manager?
Klopp is setting the standard right now. Might be the best on the planet at this moment in time.Pep Guardiola at Barcelona.
Neill Lennon at Celtic.
Antonio Conte at Juventus.
I reckon it's about 50/50.
Roy Keane has managed in 8 years and hasn't been a success in his last 3 coaching jobs.
The days of the fearful manager are gone. Just look at Guardiola and Klopp. They aren't authority figures. But they are respected. They realize shouting at players like a school headmaster doesn't work.
