PAT Testing

There is no legal requirement to PAT test in the workplace never mind the home. In the workplace you need to have a scheme of electrical maintenance in place and often PAT testing is the easiest way to do this. PAT testing firms try to have your eyes out as it is easier for them to come in and blanket test everything as opposed to what is actually due. It’s money for old rope. As for PAT testing at home, never heard of it unless maybe the OP is wanting to rent it out fully furnished and wants to cover his arse. 2 grand sounds ridiculous though. Of course this could be a big whooosh by the Op.
We just use a bunch of blank PAT testing stickers from eBay.
Sad H&S induction stickler site agent didn’t come in one weekend and his side kick left early. PAT test stickers on everything in their office…..chairs, desks, pens, pencils, white board, CCTV screen, kettle everything. Twat wanted fingerprints taken ffs! Another time someone wrote on the corex lift protection that he was an arsehole, he spent hours in the lift going up n down comparing the handwriting in the site signing in/out book with the graffiti.
These bastards have taken all the fun out of the game.

Been quoted £2k to get all electrical devices in the house PAT tested. Seems high to me, I do this every few years and I’m sure last time it was only £300-400, which is reasonable.

Anyone know anyone who can do this in East Boldon? Usually takes about a day, but provided the kettle is PAT tested first, you get unlimited cups of tea (not actually unlimited, accepting anymore than 3/4 teas is greedy and rude).
2k 😂😂😂 name and shame the company! I pay about £1 an item at my work.

No PAT testing is worth its weight in gold. If PAT testing is no good, how come it’s standard H&S in the UK?

Think on my friend.

Even the Health and Safety Executive (the HSE) don’t PAT all of their equipment.

Class 2 items (double insulated, with a plastic earth pin) are pretty safe if the thing is still intact.

He doesn't peel a banana before eating it, he eats the whole thing in case someone slips on the skin.

The OP plays a safety shot off the last black when on a break of 147
He wears safety glasses, gloves and steel toe cap boots to play darts

There is one just over the road from my house.

We're lucky, we have 10 in our small village. Never really more than a few hundred yards away from one.

I hope they're all adequately PAT tested by someone with the appropriate attitude for the job.
I’m adding this to the Minor Annoyances thread - Portable Appliance Testing Testing

The PAT test is what you need to fail before deciding to get everything in your house PAT'd.

Stuff is made mega safe man and factors in 10 times more use than your average household
You're inventing scenario's that just don't happen
I do not get the overthinking either.

better to make sure he has an up to date fuse box

the world is going mad

Pat tested a big outlet in the airport a couple of years ago. Walked past a fortnight later n it was flattened! 😂

Mad money pissed away at commercial level.

Yes correct, a residence. So maybe 30-40 separate electrical items all in. £2k far too much, I told the fella forget it and he laughed and said I wouldn’t get it cheaper.

If you have 30-40 electrical devices you must live in an Amazon warehouse.

Not really.

PAT applies to anything with a plug.

So every phone chargers, bedside lights, radios, kettles, microwaves, laptops etc all need testing.

It quickly adds up.

You can buy the stickers on the net, just fill in with some fictitious company and you're good to go.
I didn't say this.
