ODI World Cup

Not keen on the format of this (or previous) ODI World Cup. Only 10 teams teams so minnows have been excluded. It was always fun seeing the likes of Netherlands, Afghanistan and Scotland. It's more of a Champions Trophy rather than a true World Cup and doesn't help the growth of the sport around the world. Trouble is those bigger tournaments went on for too long so would be hard to fit into the current calendar of franchise tournaments.

Brook & Archer for Roy/Malan & Topley/Atkinson
Mott doesn't rule out making changes to the squad
Lasagne making a big case to get added

Cant open with Brook like for me. I dont see why people demanding this, opened there twice in is whole career and failed both times

Back to 14 teams from 2027 with the same format as 2003 (2 x 7 groups, super sixes, SF then final). Netherlands and Afghanistan are in this one tbf. There's so few games that are genuine crowd pullers that you can't afford to have say 4 groups of four and potentially miss out on games like Ind v Pak & Aus v Eng (or any other combination of those 4). In 2003 it was the only time a non-test playing country have made it to the semi finals.

T20 going to 20 teams in 2024 where you can play 2 games a day and condense it. Could end up seeing England v Jersey which would be a bit one-sided I reckon.

Is it just me or does a 15 man squad feel far too small?

I'd want at least 3 bowlers (2 seamers and some sort of spinner), an opener, a middle order batsman, and a second WK in the squad. 9 ODIs is a lot of cricket and you'd want some flexibility...

Roy hasn't been in great form and being unable to stake a claim in this series probably hasn't helped. Still think Brook is lucky to be in as he's looked no great shakes in this format

In this format if Brook us in for middle order, I'd have rather take Sam Hain whose list a record is outstanding

Roy's form hasn't been great over the last two years.

I'm still not sure about Brook though. Only played in a handful of ODIs.

I hope he proves me wrong though.
