ODI World Cup

He’s not really been fit for 2 years. I’m not sure we can call him a ‘key player’.
He's played more white ball games for England this year than some of our squad mind.

He averaged 16 with the ball in ODI's from 4 games and 18 from 3 T20I in South Africa/Bangladesh at the beginning of the year.

Canny description of the 1996 ODI world cup, the one Sri Lanka won, by Mark Nicholas.

The whole nineties had good world cups like, '99 at home was particularly memorable.

That lime green Pakistan top was class. They should go back to it, always play better in lime green. Same as us. Always like to see us in cerulean/azure blue rather than the darker variety.

He has, that’s fair. I had a bit of a disagreement with someone on Facebook about Archer potentially getting a 3 year contract. Since around this time in 2020 he has played;

11 out of 57 t20s
4 out of 35 ODIs
2 out of 38 tests

He’s not really played a great deal in the past 3 years. I think in a similar way I don’t class Stokes/Wood as Durham misses really. I think there’s too much pinned on him being the key man.

He was our top wicket taker in the 2019 World Cup and been excellent in the IPL previously. So I think it's fair to say he's a key man IMO. As if not for injury he'd be starting at this world cup.

We've not really taken ODI serious since 2019. This latest NZ series is about the only time we've played our best team, yet we've dropped the player who's played most in that time.

Love to see Pakistan smash them

Me too mate. But them Bcci kernts doing everything they can to disrupt other nations especially Pakistan.

Pcb have every right to tell bcci to piss off and boycott the WC. They won't though as they need the monies and probably would get heavily fined for the protest.

It sickens me that in this world that inequalities like this are ignored and not pulled up. I guess money rules everything, even common decency.

Indian authorities haven’t granted visas to the Pakistan team yet. Cheats.

You really have to jump through hoops to get a visa even if you're second generation British/Pakistani origin.
As much as I would love to bash India.

Cricinfo reported this whole thing without the full facts.

Pakistan didn't submit their visa applications till the 19th September.

The Indian authorities have form for delaying visas for those of Pakistani origin though, Usman Khawaja and 2 Dutch players by way of example.

Aussies batting well against India. On for 350+ here.

As much as I love the Indians getting smashed, I can't abide the Aussies doing well. It's definitely conflicting.

It's a meaningless game with neither XI possible in their world cup games. So wouldn't read too much into it either way.

Hopefully neither side make the semis. Outside of the Ashes I'd rather win against India.

Granted yesterday and they flew into India today. Eight days isn't too bad, it took me four as a non-Pakistani.

I don't think any game this close to the world cup is totally meaningless, but I get your point. Still, Aussies showing why they are up there with us and India as favourites.

I'm the same, love beating India more outside the ashes. It's the patter of the Indian commentators/pundits and even fans which put me off them. Mags of the cricketing world.
