ODI World Cup

Was thinking the same, Brook fails in 3 knocks and comes in for one half of our most successful opening partnership on the back of Roy having a back spasm.

If Brook had been selected initially it’s not a problem. And it’d have been the correct call. I think it’s impossible to ignore that talent. But to not pick them, then pick him and him not do anything of note and then chop Roy when the time came just smacks of poor man management.

How do they explain that to Roy?

He may well still be a travelling reserve. Surely we can't just go with Brook as the only backup batsman. I had expected Harry as the travelling reserve until Roy's back spasm problem.

Roy is clearly not fit, otherwise you'd have thought he'd be playing in the Ireland series to get some game time if he was.

Albeit they may want to try two of Crawley/Duckett/Salt as the openers. Seeing as they will be likely the ones going forward in the role.

I think it’s just Archer travelling as a reserve although I guess they could fly others out if needed and I think I read on sky Roy has turned down the chance to play Ireland.

Think that’s his England career done now

Carse is a travelling reserve too.

With question marks over Rashid fitness. Rehan/Dawson might find themselves called up too as reserve.

We shall see what happens over the next 10 days.

Saw something saying Archer might be the only 'travelling' reserve.

Roy looks like he is the batting reserve but wont be travelling, been given the option to play the 2nd and 3rd games against Ireland, if he doesnt then I think he will call it a day after the world cup, England wise.

Root playing the first match to get some form, could do with Bairstow and Brook playing tbh

Oh, Carse travelling too.
Think there isnt a limit on how many reserves we can have, so Ahmed for Rashid and Dawson for Ali I reckon

Luke Wright says they selected 3 left and 6 right arm bowlers as a balance as alot of travelling and a few who have injury problems. That's why they left out a batter for a bowler. Wished they could have added another batsman and spinner

I think the positive thing from all these debates about selection is the fact we talking about leaving good players out.

We have some absolutely cracking white ball cricketers and win or lose this World Cup ( and we have a great chance of winning it) the future bright.

Depth wise we light years ahead of we were 15/20 years ago

Everyone, other than us 🤞, seems to have lost a key player or two to injury. Maybe us playing a reserve side v Ireland wasn’t a bad thing!
