O’Shea

o shea was a terrible player for us. the only thing he did was turn up, spent all game pointing at others whilst he stood still watching the opposition run past him. picked up a canny pension from the club though.

This isn't true though, every single manager played him. He was a decent centre back with good game intelligence and fairly commanding in the air.

Our whole team in the latest premier league stint was poor from 2012 onwards. Apart from Defoe we had no top strikers, we had constantly changing fullbacks, and our defensive midfielder was injured quite a bit and other times rash with challenges.

Never lost to the mags in his career, always put in a shift, was the least of our issues tbh.

Our defensive record wasn't that bad either relative to others. His legs were well well gone by the end here but we still couldn't replace him. That says more than anything about what a decent player he was for us.

He obviously cares about the club too.

One of the main crybabies who downed tools when Di Canio demanded they put some effort in for the club, he can f#ck right off for me.
O Shea knows what elite level performance and work ethic is..Di Canio doesn't..soif o shea os saying the training is excessive..he, rather than di canio, a serially unprofessional footballer-should be listened to..

thats why, in the serially inaccurate parlance of this baord..di canio has been unemployed for years while o shea has had load of people employ him to coach..

the only thing he was good at was never losing to the mags.
he had a heart the size of a pea. i used to lose count of the times he would get turned inside out or get caught out of position then start pointing at the rest of our defence. the only thing he was good at was not being paul mcshane.

you think fergie would have picked him all those times if he was a coward?
Dont be ludicrous..

he wasnt a model pro he got sspended lots of times for dping stupid things like getting a big ban for pushing a ref.

Di Canio was also never a full international.

He was a talented by erratic player-erratic is not a professional trait.

Of course he trained well etc but that doesnt innitself make you a good pro if you let the team down in other ways
i'm talking about his time at sunderland.
SAfc must be horrible if it makes brave people cowards..every manager picked johno and every international manager he had as well..they dotn picj cowarrds..

Alcock did make a meal out of that push mind

I like O'Shea. Ended up playing too long for us when his legs had pretty much gone but that wasn't his fault, then, as now, suitable replacements didn't come in.

I particularly remember an awful game he had when we got stuffed at hime by Pardew's Palace (1-4, 2015 - our option off the bench was Coates). Nowt weny right for him then. Like Bardsley though, he was reliable and prepared to put his body on the line when under pressure.

dicanio was booted out of juventus and milan for rows with managers...albeit he wasnt first choice with either..thats why he ended up at celtic..where he refused to do pre season after another dispute with the club..

thats when he went to sheff weds where he got a big ban for pushing a ref..

very talented player let down by his poor temprament...

Geniuses are flawed ( a bit like me 😉 )

I'm not against the idea of taking a punt on him, but how many players who played under Ferguson have actually turned out to be a decent manager? A few have had a couple of decent seasons & that's about it.
Keane was great, and as Bruce kept reminding us his 10th place finish was up there with the best we'd achieved post war. Both had shed loads of money to chuck at it though

What did he do? Except from never qualifying for Wales and spending about 500 million at Man City... And won nothing.
The closest 2 people when it comes to ex-Fergie players is either Michael Appleton (Yes he's ex-fergie but never made an appearance) or Steve Bruce, who actually achieved more than Hughes did getting to a final of an FA Cup.
Atleast Keane won a trophy even if it's just a Championship one.

The biggest thing we can take, being an ex-Fergie player means absolutely fuck all.
Always bugs me that. Because they played for fergie a few year, does not mean they have got some kind of esotoric knowledge. They have not.

He was absolutely shite for years by the time he left. One of the biggest earners at the club and we still get shite like 'oh well it doesnt matter, wasnt his fault he wasnt very good anymore'. Aye class, just sit on your arse on a massive wage or play like a bag of shite whilst we've not got a penny to spend and are going down two years on the bounce.

Captain of back to back relegations, shite and clogging up a massive wage as we sunk from the Premier League to League One. At least he never lost to the Mags though eh?
