I really hope it’s true about Keegan and Shearer as it means they are pandering to the bedsheet brigade rather than developing a proper strategy. That will waste at least a year by which time the tendency to shout at shops will begin to surface again.
PIF is essentially the sovereign investment fund. It has two purposes - firstly to secure the wealth of Saudi Arabia by growing its investments. Secondly to create positive PR for the country. 300 million for Newcastle which likely needs at twice that much again to get into champions league positions does not seem to be something that is going to make money. So we can only assume the purchase is for PR purposes. It will be interesting to see what they do to try and achieve that - renaming the stadium is pretty much nailed on. If the current wave of protest at the purchase gathers any momentum then that creates a problem for them. I think they have bought Newcastle as one of the best options to move a big club relatively quickly to the upper echelons of the EPL - and that is probably correct. However I doubt it’s possible to do a Man City now - it will take more like 5-8 years. Will the Jihadi Geordies settle for that? Add in the Stavely effect which will more than likely cost them time then this could be interesting.
Wonder how they would react to their stadium being renamed given the fuss they kicked up when Ashley tried it. Around that time I actually saw a mag wearing a top with:

ST JAMES

EVA

Imagine going and asking them to put that on man. 😂

The next few months are critical for Newcastle in my mind. Everyone seems to have forgotten that they are second bottom, having not won a match this season, and having played some supposedly "easy" fixtures. Everyone is blaming Bruce, but even if you replace him, that's a poor squad, with little depth and some injury-proneness as well

They can't sign a player till January, and even then, selling clubs will hold out for silly money when approached, because they know they will be desperate to sign.

They could still be a championship club next year. I imagine they'd bounce back, but the first year of PiF reign might not be as pretty as people think

They have a huge four months ahead of them. Whether it’s a new manager, or the players they desperately need, they are going to get ripped off at every turn and they know it.

For example if the Martial stuff is right, I am in no doubt that Utd will gleefully accept in excess of £50-60m for him as his real value is probably around half that. Of course the agent will want a good cut and I suspect Anthony will want a very good salary to leave Cheshire. That one signing could easily cost them £100m+

The deluded ones that want Kane are in for a shock. Levy will push for closer to £200m and Harry will want £500k a week to move from the capital to the north. If it ever went through, the deal would probably cost them north of £300m

Not defending takeover at all but honestly lads if you're genuinely that fucked off about human rights abuses then you need to get on high horse at..

Nufc - saudis. Gay rights, Yemen etc.
City/PSG - WC corruption, gays, slavery.
Arsenal - gays, slavery
Chelsea - Clear Putin links so assassinations etc. Gay rights. Novichok.
The difference being that your owners were actually directly involved in murder and oppression. Those other instances primarily just originate from the countries where bad stuff happens. If you can’t see the difference I’m not sure you’re really paying attention.

Therte was a berk down the airshow a few years back with We 8 Mackems on the back of his and as luck would have it, I got a bit of cramp and had to stretch my leg just as he was walking down the few stairs to the beach at Roker

They will perform some amazing feat of twisted logic to justify why renaming the ground this time is all fine and dandy. If the Newcastle LGBT supporters can get behind a regime that would execute them purely for existing then a mere name change isn’t going to put any mags off.

Have the LGBT community in Newcastle actually come out in support ?

No different to the number of LGBT a people working for all the UK companies and the government that have or are negotiating deals with the Saudis.

That's not true though is it - some clubs cant afford to hold on to players and they aren't going to risk getting fucked financially as a result of it.

For example Barca - if we offered for their fringe players - Umtiti Coutinho etc they would most certainly sell as they are desperate.

Us having money isn't new, Man City and PSG buy players ok don't they?

I imagine in January , we buy with the aims of ensuring we stay up. Then in the summer the real work starts.

Exactly. It’s amazing how the Newcastle fans have just decided in their own heads that the takeover is some sort of guarantee of huge success. As you say, it will probably take years for them to compete at the top and knowing them lot, their patience will quickly run out. Nobody knows the real motivation yet of the group. Let’s say they spend 200m next summer. What will that achieve? For sure they will have a better squad and more enjoyable football which is a real positive, but it won’t get them near the top 6.

this season will be interesting as I suspect the other 19 Premier league teams will be extra motivated to beat them. Wonder how big the celebration will really be next week as they go 0-3 down to Spurs
Like I said the motivation can’t be money as it makes no sense unless they get into a breakaway European super league - and to be honest I ope they do.
