It would also defy the myth of being the richest club in the world as it would be another indication of them being just another in their porrfolio of investments. Obviously they have to be competitive in order to make money so will definitely improve.
 
The Saudi takeover will be commercially driven and not a vanity project- unlike Chelsea and Man City projects.
Large sums of money will not be thrown at Newcastle . The quickest way to deplete a wealth fund will be to throw money at a football club.
Apart from the obvious sportswashing angle there will be a corporate marketing objective ; football will be used as a conduit for attracting and entertaining investors both at Newcastle and in particular when the club are playing in London.
Of course the profile of the club will be raised. Of course better players will come in.
But the Geordie nation will at some point receive a reality check and the current euphoria may in the future be viewed as yet another false dawn.

He's only leaving Spurs because he's getting towards the back end of his career and wants to win something. Why would he then sign for a club not playing in Europe and carry on winning fuck all.

They can have Martial, he's never looked interested for the last few years anyway, total mercenary

It’s embarrassing the way their media are turning a blind eye to everything and he’s supposed to be neutral. There’s going to be a divide between proper journalists and pro Newcastle journalists.
