I follow the thread but haven't posted much but having reflected on the bollocks flowing from the mags thought I would chip on.
From what I can see they are uncontrollably jealous of us, not the other way round.
We have been through so much shit but have come through in fantastic shape as a fan group. Ownership is looking better than it has for a long time and whilst the behind the scenes organisation of the club needs to be better, this is a relatively minor detail.
The Mags now have rich owners but they will be tainted in everything they do from now on and whilst they will deny this, it is a universal fact spreading across the footballing world.
Deflecting onto Adam Johnson, Uber, Disney does not fool anyone, they would love to have decent owners and a rock solid, sensible fan base like ours.
If they just accepted that turning a blind eye to their owners so they can win something is wrong but that they aren't arsed about fighting to get rid of them then I might have more respect for them.
As it is, running round and round on a rival's forum is pathetic and they should all crawl back under the stones they came from and leave us alone to vent about how bad their owners are and how very lucky we are to support Sunderland.

There is big difference of actions by many of your fans as how many are being vocal/active about the owners? Look at all the fans actions when the takeover wasn't happening with all the protesting, banners, 100k+ petition etc yet where are the protests, petitions or banners like the "Support the team, not the regime" in my last post. Is that being shown at every game now?

As has been said, you haven't got your club back at all. It's a Saudi vehicle with Amanda the chauffeur at the wheel to distract from the true owners and their true identity. Plenty are lapping it up loving her along with her husband getting his arse rimmed constantly on social media. Take those 2 away, along with the Reuben brothers so it was 100% Saudi's then what do you think your fans would be like? It certainly wouldn't be the same way as they are with Amanda and her husband and that's the reason they've been the face of the club on the PR side and it's worked for them more than they could ever imagine. All the whataboutery, deflecting or simply ignorance to what they say is unreal at times and provides us here with much amusement (like they have for many seasons now regardless of us being in League 1 most of them :lol:)

It makes you wonder how many would accept £500m investment over 3 years from Putin if Shearer/Keegan were the face of a takeover in 2025 if the Saudi's gave up. This is what sports washing is, an investment in something and the players/fans don't give a fuck about the investors as long as they benefit from it in some way and other things don't affect them like it the NIMBY effect. One thing abundantly clear is there is far more pro Saudi support/acceptance/ignoring than anti Saudi noise at the moment. Just look at the reaction to the 3rd shirt even though it's a Saudi themed shirt but at least you've got your club back as many mag fans have said.

Now the footballing talk for @Sabre Mag ;) I think it will certainly go sour if you get nowhere in the coming seasons with no sign of breaking into the top 6 as the investment could dry up. If they don't get into Champions League and fail to increase revenue then there's only so much money they can fiddle using various Saudi sponsors before FPP finally kicks in or the Saudis say enough is enough. Also the paying of higher fees/wages to attract players over other clubs eats more into that initial investment before FPP takes hold and that's been clear with some players you've brought in.

A player with serious CL ambitions probably won't come up to the North East even for the bigger money being offered. A player base elsewhere in the country may well solve that problem and will possibly happen if all goes well in coming seasons. Even if location wasn't a problem, many top players will still prefer to go to the Manchester or London clubs as they can command obscene amounts of anywhere from £100k to £400k+ a week. The extra the mags will have to pay won't be a massive percentage increase as it was in the 90's when players on 4 figures were being offered 5 figure wages that increased their wages substantially as a percentage. Would a proven player come up here for £250k a week when one of the top 6 are offering £225k? £13m a season wages going to a club that isn't established in Europe or 11.7m going to a club in Europe most if not all seasons and winning trophies?

You also have to consider that the bigger the clubs have far bigger global fan bases. This means proven top level players will also get more income through image rights, sponsorships, win bonuses and all the other money generating avenues of being at a top club. Look

and you see how much players can compliment their wages and this probably isn't all of it. I'm not saying all players at the big 6 will get that much more elsewhere but they will get more than just their basic wages. Now there's already 6 established big clubs with massive revenues, some nearly double/triple any of the other 14 teams and there's a massive gap of at least £250m for Newcastle to overcome Arsenal's mid £400m revenue.

The ticket prices will certainly go up before any huge stadium development but even the extra matchday revenue won't help bridge that huge financial gap. To contemplate building a new stadium would surely be after a few years of being established CL team so until then it may well be a few 1,000 more seats added to SJP but again that won't bring in the millions. There's the sponsorships but again there's only so much that can be injected into the club before it becomes too obvious a piss take.

In my opinion Newcastle probably never will have that global appeal as it's just too crowded at the top now for them to get into the big money and stay there. I know I keep mentioning the 90's but this is because some mags think this is where they could get again in time. Difference being, back then Chelsea and Spurs didn't have as much a financial advantage as they do now and Man City were nowhere. These days there's also non PL teams that have the huge global followings also. There is no sign of a massive TV deal that will close the revenue gap and allow teams to spend silly amounts on players and wages.

Finishing 7th gets into the Conference version but it's just over £4 million for winning it so not exactly big money overall throughout the competition. As for the big money Champions League, Leicester are the only team to get into Champions League since Everton did it in 2004/5 which is 16 years ago now! That's where the big money ultimately lies and there's already 6 big teams fighting for those 4 places. Now consider when the likes when one of those teams misses out, it hits them financially but odds are they'll get back in the next season so on average over numerous seasons they still get a huge injection of extra revenue from it.

Leicester have enjoyed 3 seasons in Europe after their league win,1 straight away in CL and then their last 2 seasons they were in Europa but that's now ended. They got over £100m revenue more in their CL season (

) jumping from £129m to £233m. Trying to stay up there with the big boys has cost them as their wages nearly doubled from £80m to £157m since that £129m revenue season. Their wages to revenue has gone from 69% to 109% in those 4 financial seasons due to not being in the CL more than 1 season. I think the owner hoyed in a £100m loan and if they don't get back into Europe in coming seasons, preferably the Champions League then it may well see them with limited finances. It will be interesting to see their finances this coming season due to not being in Europe at all.

TLDR.... nah just joking. I agree with a great deal of what you say, I think it's incredibly unlikely we win a title, and the best we might achieve could be a league cup, maybe a few European trips etc, but Liverpool and Man Ciry play a different sport to us, and the gap will get bigger before it ever gets smaller. At some point the Saudis will get bored, ir the UK will end their relationship with them, and it'll go tits up and that will be that, the cycle of football continues. And with a bit of luck, even when this happens, I will still go, meet the lads, sit in my seat and then have a few pints.

I don't think there'll be a new stadium, nor will there be one IMO, any money would be better spent upgrading and giving TLC to what we have. Lots is dependent on results, but if, as you say, in term of ticket prices especially, fans begin to get priced out then things might begin to turn, different.

Ultimately, this situation where fans of football become involved in discussions of this nature, something somewhere has gone very wrong, and this was inevitable when Abramovic was allowed to but Chelsea. That was the door open, and now it's the floodgates. China next maybe?

Since NUFC were taken over the noise has been unbelievable when nothing was said when Man City and Sheffield Utd were bought by middle east money, why? Man Utd have had investment from them for years but again nothing is said. I know I sound like a gravy guzzler but when you take the red and white specks off my points are valid and if they came here with all the money not a word would be said. simple as that.
