Nissan

All depends how much they can help, there's not just Nissan, no doubt Toyota, Honda, vauxhall, BMW and all the rest will want similar treatment for any subsidies given.
Personally I'd be reining back on overseas spending like the climate help to allow the country to support its own industries as we head into the green era, if there's no money in the kitty as they keep banging on about time to trim what we send overseas and take care of ourselves first
Pointless helping the car industry if firstly they can't shift them, and secondly the infrastructure is years behind where it needs to be
Without doubt, especially as the UK only contributes 1% to 2 % of global emissions...

India, China, USA, Russia and Japan are the real big polluters who should be paying the mega bucks to climate help, certainly not us... 🤔

The headcount for the production levels is correct I’ve heard. If you look at the accounts on companies house for the last few years headcount has been ~6700 for cars being built in the range 180-300k per year. If anything many parts of the site are massively understaffed.

Some people need to keep off the carling…

It’s not even the level of pollution we chuck out now, seems we are only too happy to be spanking cash elsewhere, when we have plenty of issues that we can’t afford to tackle due to lack of funds here.
A some point we have to help ourselves first, before starting to right the wrongs of the world

They should be giving staff evs at cost price to push them, the carpark should be full of chargers it’s free advertising people will spread the word how easy it is to charge and how great they are , they are good I had a leaf I loved it then they took it off the lease scheme after I’d payed over 500 quid for a charger at my house ! Currently must be about a dozen chargers between thousands of people who work there how is that sending out a good message

You not seen the 100s of leafs opposite sports and social ? Built 1000s extra to hit the government targets and couldn't sell them so they have sat there 10months apparently getting scrapped off for insurance. Would of thought they might have had discounted ones for employees but battery's probably knackered now and the EV regulations changing all the time

Crazy that Nissan n their suppliers don’t have loads of charging points in their car parks. Unipres had about 10 of them n only recently doubled the amount.

I agree they should be encouraging staff to go electric with the incentives but not sure how much it would be am advertising benefit.

It's a no-brainer. I assume the bigwigs above would rather cut their nose off to spite their face rather than give you a perk.

So short-sighted. They could have offered yous a smaller pay deal and thrown in a car that you'd have to return if you ever left. Could've saved themselves money and used you as a walking advert for the product.

Could've filmed the car park of you all leaving at the end of your shift, showing all the workers in a new electric motor. Not only promoting the car, promoting the job itself.

Instead they give you lump sums they'll never go back and struggle to sell the EVs. Well done higher ups.

I’m wondering if this is a wind up, filmed leaving the car park? What everyone stuck in a traffic jam in their new Nissans cos of the shite single road network.
(Exaggeration) they could give every staff member a new car for free and it would not make an impact on sales. The north east is minuscule compared to where these cars are sent to.
Do you not think they would have already thought of that and gave the staff the cars at a massive discount, instead the have hiked them up year after year. £300-£450 a month for a car thats never gonna be yours. Sod that like

Staff driving round Sunderland and the north east in a juke or qashqai nevos would have little to zero influence on sales, given how many are exported. Be a nice perk for the staff though.
That’s not true more people who have them more others have faith in them and follow suit if the people who make them don’t have an ev what message does that send out

We had a skip meeting ages ago with Alan Johnson. We asked about EV charge points. We were told that "We dont have a fuel station for staff, why would we supply Ev chargers?"

Yeah, in the north east. Thats it. Not enough.
People from the northeast travel all over ! Word spreads . Ok let’s just do fuck all and go bankrupt :)

Because they want as many people as possible to buy them ! Place is powered by solar and wind turbines ! Nobody’s saying free at least give people the option to charge their car !

I had a skip meeting with Johnson and Pennifold just after COVID, I asked them why we didn't have E-Power Qashqai and Juke. They both thought it was a Renault engine and were totally unaware that the Note E-Power had been the biggest selling car in Japan for about 3 years. These are the kind of people who are in charge at NMUK and Nissan Europe. THe place is DOOMED.
