Even at the current low volumes, NMUK is making a small profit. With the EU tariffs on batteries and parts not made locally , it’s really obvious they’ll want to utilise the spare capacity here to build their cars and consequently large volumes mean big profits(as happened when we were building 500,000 cars a year) . If the merger doesn’t go through, then will be the time to potentially worry.To cut costs. Is that too simplistic?
Why wouldn't they keep it open? (Just playing devils advocate here)
Nee one knows either way. We do know established manufacturers have had their pants pulled down by the Chinese.
