Nissan

Read a lot of shit about Nissan on this thread over the months and what it’s like to work there. Yes the shifts are hard but I found the lads I worked with to be spot on and still in touch with many today. I left in 2016 so it might be different now but all I can say about the place is as a 20-something year old lad joining it completely sorted me out to understand what hard work was and made me much more disciplined in general.
The place is full of people moaning about how shit it is, but don’t leave.
Loads of opportunities to be promoted or moved laterally off the production line.
Usually found most lads and lasses struggled for the first 3-4 months but after that it became easier, but some don’t hang around and decide it’s not for them which is fair enough.
The potential merger with Honda will be a worry as they left the UK because of Japan to EU tariffs, lack of sales and maybe Brexit, either way they didn’t hesitate to shut the plant and walk away.

I think you’re totally wrong re Honda mind, at the time they quoted the changes in the global market and drive towards electrification in Europe and ultimately they struggled to make profits in a plant building one model/low volumes. The tariffs on batteries/parts not built in Europe now means there’s every chance an alliance would see NMUK building Hondas on what would be common platforms in a plant capable of 600,000 units a year.

Aye it might suit both parties. NMUK has plenty capacity to build alot more and Honda could build there most popular European sellers and benefit from reduced overheads of having a separate plant. We will just have to wait and see.

This was also the case for the 35 years I worked there...

One lad in particular was always whinging about hating it and I said why do you stay then..??

I then said I will tell you why, where else will you get well over £40k a year for just driving a forklift round for a 8 hours a day..??

You would be on less than half doing if you were a new starter or doing it in the Vantec warehouse over the road...

And when you get your final salary pension (which still existed then !!) at 55 you might get up to £20k a year off them...

So if you live 40 years they will pay you up to £800,000 for not even going there ever again or doing anything for it, how crazy is that...

He said oh well I deserve it for putting up with all this s**** for so long...

So I said well just remember that every time you whinge then how lucky you are...

Needless to say he never left and retired a few years ago with his nice pension, must have realised where he was better off...

Now I know that pension has gone now for the new starters, but the wages are ticking up nicely, and the way you are treated at work is a lot better now along with the much lower targets per man these strange days,

So if you can get your head around a bit of graft, keep your nose clean and if your ambitious look for an opportunity to progress or improve your skills it could still work out decent for you hopefully...🤔

I honestly think Carling's spelling and grammar errors are affected and he's probably a supervisor or something at Nissan.

Certainly wouldn't be openly bragging about money obtained through deception. Police might get wind of it.

Scientists have found that people who constantly get bothered by grammatical errors online have "less agreeable" personalities than those who just let them slide.

And those friends who are super-sensitive to typos on your Facebook page? Psychological testing reveals they're generally less open, and are also more likely to be judging you for your mistakes than everyone else.

I'll take 'less agreeable' over ignorance any day of the week.

Less agreeable people can become easier going; those who are about as sharp as a bowl of porridge are stuck that way.

What's the prize for tolerating dumb people? Oh great, dull people like me, now I have talk to them and pretend to be interested.

Besides, I think you're putting it on. I'm not convinced you're daft.

You’ve definitely not written that and it’s just copied and pasted from Google.
