When i went to New York we spent about £1500 a day, each. Then about another £1000 each per evening. That was ten years ago now mind so i'd imagine it's a bit expensive now. We stuck to that tight budget and still had a great time mind.

It's mainly Pepsi out there which is a shame as i'm one of the few people in life who has a palate capable of distinguishing the subtle differences between the two.

lots.... If your there for the New years eve, Times Square is fantastic but you will be standing there for hours before new year chimes in.. I think you can still buy tickets for Times Square but be prepared to wait. New York needs planning before you go. decide where to go and what to do in order... Pre book the tickets for the Empire state.

We stood outside the theaters and had a cracking time... I know people who bought quick access tickets direct into TS and had a great time last year....You try Grand Central Station for your Breakfasts?

To be fair the $2000 is just for cash in pocket, think wife (no) and definitely daughter (positively no) will be hitting credit cards for bargains.

You can spend as much or as little as you like and still have a decent time mate. It's a great city to just wander about in and that costs nowt!

Whatever you do, do not do Times Sq on NYE.

You have to be there in the afternoon. You stand in pens and can’t leave. It’s minus 20. Everyone watches the ball drop and goes home at three minutes past midnight.

And it’s dry.
