New Music Releases Thread

It's a quieter week for new releases. There are albums tomorrow from Cancer Bats, Evan J Cartwright, James Krivchenia, Kurt Vile, Primer, Tim Kasher, Tony Price, 50 Foot Wave and Dedicated Men of Zion.
Not a whole lot for me other than 50 Foot Wave. Might give Kasher a go - don't know anything about him but think I saw his name in relation to Laura Jane Grace touring in the last day or so.

New Tallies single out a couple of days ago - very 80s jangle indie

New Sault incoming?

Will be interested in that like. I was just looking up the other day to see if they ever play live but I'm not convinced. Still, got linked to Hannah peel at the sage which I've got tickets for.
Have decided I really can’t stand FJM

And I really don’t get the Wet Leg hype at all

My album of the week is November Ultra

I'm undecided about fjm but not listened to the album yet

I do really like wet leg but not sure they deserve the hype aye. Keep hearing how great they were at Cardiff but I was there, and like them, and they were decent but not much of a performance

November ultra doesn't ring a bell so will ask Google about that one

As my self designated job seems to be updating when Phoebe Bridgers releases new music… Phoebe Bridgers has released a new single, Sidlines.

I think it’s to do with the adaptation of ‘Conversations with Friends’ as a tv series

Been a good year for new music, they keep on coming…

Ryan Adams ‘Chris’ out last week, nice loose flow to it, vocals sound great, his best album of recent times.

Kurt Vile, nice short album as per, laidback couldn’t give a shite vibe throughout, class.

String machine - hallelujah hell yeah. - Psychedelic indie pop, nice harmonies, catchy quality songs.

Ryan Adams can fuck off

New stuff I've listened to this weekend:

Sault: something of a departure from their earlier albums. This is lush, orchestral pieces, largely lyricless. Very pretty, very uplifting, very, very good!
Jon Spencer & the HITmakers: he's back with a new band. Similar aims but maybe slightly more diverse sounds. Weird and wonderful as always.
50 Foot Wave: Kristin Hersh doing what she always does basically. Guitar based anxty songs, well made.
Kurt Vile: softer and longer than before (which makes this sound like bog roll not an album). It's probably KV's prettiest album. Very good!
Dedicated Men of Zion: gospel/blues/soul (probably in that order). Well worth a listen.
Mick Trouble: very lo-fi, sort of punkish. His first album was better.
Simon Love: his second album of whimsical, psychedelic pop. Quite UK flavoured (lots of UK TV references in the lyrics). Good!
Crows: pretty intense. They seem like the intersection between Idles and Editors. Interesting.

Album of the week: I think it goes to Jon Spencer, although both the Sault and Kurt Vile albums are really, really good and I have a soft spot for Simon Love.

Very, very, good week for me this week.

I’ve obviously been excited for Gizz and Bob Vylan for months, will also definitely check out the Porn Crumpets and Spiritualized, and if I have time then Fontaines DC and Ry Cooder will get a listen or two.

Never heard Bob Vylan or heard of them so checked out on your suggestion. Sounds very good. I will give that a good go tomorrow along with Spiritualized.
