My summary of the new/newish stuff I've listened to:
Shabazz Palaces: interesting if quite low key. A continuation from the last two albums stylistically.
EOB: A bit dull TBH. Lies midway between Thom Yorke's solo stuff and Phil Selway's solo stuff.
Sir Richard Bishop: someone I've not really listend to before beyond the odd track on compulations. Mostly instrumental, mostly guitar but with some skronky lo-fi electronica thrown in. Very good.
Marillion - so 1983 isn't that recent but the deluxe reissue of their debut is very good indeed. A bit prog but Fish's vocals are a bit post-punk. The live bonus tracks are excellent.
rupa - the Disco Jazz album I posted about. Top stuff! Four tracks of, Indian disco jazz essentially (probably higher on the disco and Indian than the jazz).
Skylar Gudasz - well worth a listen. Female singer-songwriter. Obvious contemproary comparison is Angel Olsen.
Nathan Fake - electronica not quite made for the dance floor. Avante garde at points, quite listener friendly in others.
Plone - electronica not made for dance floor. There's a kids' TV thing going on (think Moomins or Clangers) but a lot more as well. Some will hate this, I love it!
Primo - post-punk from Australia. Enjoyable but it's not necessarily something I'll go back to repeatedly.
Fiona Apple - I like it but don't love it. The percussion is excellent but, ultimately, are the songs any better than those found on the first 3 or 4 Regina Spektor albums?
Ty Segall - pretty good for a freebie. Six tracks, all Nilsson covers. Pretty sure I've heard Coconut done by him before so he may have played it at End of the Road a few years back?
Album of the week for me: A toss up between Marillion, rupa and Plone. As Plone's album is the only strictly new release in those three, they get the nod.
