New Music Releases Thread

I’ve not listened to anything from this week’s releases but am off to Edinburgh on the train and have Ty Segal and the new El Minor (Phil Anselmo from Pantera’s new acoustic-gothic solo project) single lined up. Any other suggestions?
El Minor is surprisingly good. A bit like Me & That Man (who are also meant to have an album out this year). Main drawback is Anselmo’s voice - I love him as a heavy/extreme metal vocalist but his “normal” singing voice is also very deep and gruff and I’m not so sure it goes with the music. I look forward to the album in a month or 2.

I’ve also just read that The New Pornographers are releasing a new album at the end of September. I thought the last one was the best they’ve done so high hopes for this!

Not sure this is the best week for new releases. There are albums from Electric Youth, Half Alive, Marika Hackman, Ra Ra Riot, Rick Ross, Slipknot, Strung Out, Tori Kelly, The Regrettes, Why?, Fionn Regan and Purple Pilgrims.

I think there are 3 or 4, at a push, there. on the plus side, the releases for the rest of the month look good.

There was a new Tool song (first in 13 years), the title track off the upcoming album, previewed yesterday on all the usual platforms. It sounds like Tool, so if you don't like them, don't bother.

Guardian gave the Bon Iver album 2/5 but everywhere else seems to be 4/5 minimum. NME and DIYMag gave it full marks.

22, a Million was probably the least I've enjoyed any Justin Vernon album so hopefully it's an improvement on that.

I really liked 22, a million although I’m certainly not an authority on him. What album of his do would you recommend??

As has already been said For Emma is a wonderful album. I think Bon Iver is also very good. Everything after that I’ve been very uninterested by.
Bon Iver = lots of bleeping and sounds. I can’t tell if there’s any music behind it but this is my first listen. First impression is it’s not awful but it’s not a patch on the first 2.
