New Music Releases Thread

Seems like a relatively quiet week for new releases. We have albums from A Place To Bury Strangers, Brazilian Girls, Derek Smalls, John Prine, Juliana Hatfield, King Tuff, Laura Viers, Mouse On Mars, Slug, The Damned, Tinashe, Simone Felice, Josh Rouse, Josh T Pearson and Manic Street Preachers.
Very excited for this one.

I’ll probably give Slug, Hatfield, The Damned and MSP a spin too.

I’m assuming “Derek Smalls” isn’t the Spinal Tap bassist?

Derek Smalls is very much the Spinal Tap bassist. The album is called "Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing)". No idea whether it'll be any good!

For me, Laura Viers, Mouse On Mara, Simone Felice, Josh T Pearson and Slug. May give the Manics a once over as well, for sentimental reasons.

Anybody familiar with Aussie singer songwriter Jack Ladder ? Hes about to release his 4th album and the singles I've heard are great. Going to dig into his back catalogue.

I don't think there'll ever be another band that explodes onto the scene. Simply because the music world has changed if nothing else.

I thought that and then the Arctic Monkeys came along, I think it's still possible but there'll be bigger gaps in between.

Got him on Alexa now, cheers for the heads up.

Will give him a listen.

Slight aside but the 'I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats: All Hail West Texas' compilation is very good! It's on bandcamp.

Heard the new Manics’ single on 6 Music earlier and it was dire. They had so much promise in the 90s.

I’ve just realised that Slug isn’t the rapper from Atmosphere, but is actually from Field Music.

And Juliana Hatfield is an Olivia Newton-John covers album!

No bother, let me know what you think ? So far I’ve only listened to the 3 new singles and his last album, Playmates.
Really enjoying it.

Saw him last night. Wasn't very good. I'll have to give the new album a listen though, the situation didn't really suit his style of music.

He's playing Moth Club next Tuesday for nowt if anyone is in London.

They also released a lot of crap mind, half of GT and GATS was complete filler

Saying that, the Holy Bible is a perfect record.

They haven’t released a good album since Journal for Plague Lovers
been on a downhill trajectory live since I first saw them touring motown junk at the riverside. dressed in stenciled rags and cheap supermarket white denim, with only about thirty people there, the fury of the performance was electrifying and they still smashed up their equipment. seen them every tour thereafter til the edwards disappearance but they never quite reached the same intensity imo mate
