New Music Releases Thread

Loving Félicia Atkinson's album Space As An Instrument that was released a month ago.
Not a genre I'm really familiar with, but it's well worth hearing. Field recordings, low-fi piano (recorded on her phone) and sometimes voice.
This track was cut down from 1 and 1/2 hours to 13 minutes and it's the one that drew me in.

This is wild. It says there are more songs released in a single day this year than what was released in the whole of 1989.

From a quick look at the Pazz and Jop from 89 we had Doolittle, Straight Outta Compton, Paul's Boutique, Raw Like Sushi, 3 Feet High and Rising, Like a Prayer, Disintergration, Automatic.

You'd expect some f***ing brilliant albums this year if 89 was a fallow year and produced classics like that.

In a slow week, we have new releases tomorrow from Juanita Stein, Juice WRLD and Mark Barrott.

Things pick up a bit again next week.
Juanita Stein was the other support act at Evan Dando last month (Ella Raphael whose album came out last month was the first support).

She was very good and I’ve enjoyed her back catalogue so it’s definitely the album on my “to listen” list from this week’s very small list.

Looked at a bunch of online music mags Albums Of The Year lists. No matter how much I try, i just cannot get my head around how every single one of them is creaming themselves over that MJ Lenderman album. It totally baffles me.

I think it’s great. Certainly found his groove after the other albums didn’t quite hit the mark. Wristwatch potentially my favourite song this year.
