I thought Kiwanuka was out this week too but it's saying next week on Apple Music.
Heard a single by them earlier in the year and thought it was great, will give it a listen. The Thus Love album is really good.
Always wanted to like her stuff but never really got into it. Will give her new one a bash. The new Laura Marling album (her 8th) is very impressive. She has a new fan. Got a lot of catching up to do.
Heard a few songs from her over the years, but this is the first time I felt I wanted to hear a full album and it keeps drawing me back.Always wanted to like her stuff but never really got into it. Will give her new one a bash.
She is from a very small village not far from me, and I did live right next door to it for a few years. It's weird to think anyone famous comes from there.
Heard it tonight as they did a bandcamp listening party. It's very good. Some fantastic vocals from Britta.Brilliant. Loved Petes collab with panda bear, and I like Dean and Britta. Should be good
Given there seems very little else coming this year, I’ll do top 10 AOTY list. Top 2 are the best of the year, rest somewhat arbitrary order
Bill Ryder Jones
King Hannah
Clarissa Connelly
Bright Eyes
The Cure
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Manon Meurt

The Beth Gibbons album is excellent. I am compiling a list in my head now,and nearly every album is a bit melancholy/bordering on miserable. A reflection on the music that has come out,or my foreboding mood? I dunno! The Peter Alexander Jobson album is exceptionally good. He was the bassist in I Am Kloot and originally comes from Morpeth. There are elements of Tindersticks, Richard Dawson and TOm Waits here. The longest track, Kesta, is magnificent.
Manon Meurt and Clarissa Connelly are new names to me. I'd put Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds number 1 this year. Would have a lot of what you listed quite high up probably. I'm guessing you mean "Wall Of Eyes" for The Smile, not "Cutouts"? The latter is very good but is basically a collection of tracks that didn't make either other album. Arab Strap, MJ Lenderman, Tindersticks and Beth Gibbons all there or thereabouts as well.
