Membership scheme

As soon as you have more members than spare tickets it’s a con surely

Btw I hope you didn’t bless the wedding
As above, the Arsenal one gives you right to enter the ballot, not to get a ticket. So you could pay £35 and get nowt.

(membership also gives you 10% off shop, access to ticket resale and "Arsenal Experiences" - such as other prize draws and access to a single open training session)

Its an absolute no from me.

Might start with good intentions but within a season or two we'll all be paying £50 a year if we want to apply for away tickets etc. They'll then create tiered memberships where gold members who have paid £75 have priority access to everything.
Not saying this wont happen but does any club do this? The pay money to apply for away tickets? Clubs dont really care about away tickets as much as they arent getting tourists into their club shops if you're away at Fulham.

People who have been away for the last 10 year because we’ve been shite have got a cheek if they’re expecting to be anywhere near the front of the queue for anything at the minute.
It's like the changing of players as you go up the league though. Some serve their purpose and then have to stand to the side with thanks for their efforts so bigger and better can take us to the next level. It's the same with fans really mate

That will get a few biting! Joking lads and lasses, just joking! LOL

I know youre joking but its how some clubs see it, the difference is if a club drops back down to the lower league theres always players willing to move from Portsmouth to play if you offer them money, fans dont change their clubs, if you annoy them when things are going well they wont return when things are going bad.

The justification for these schemes (not that I agree with them - posted earlier criticising) is that a good chunk of general sale tickets end up on reseller sites like Viagogo and Stub Hub so at least charging a fee means the official sites don't get flooded with bots when they go on sale. Not that it makes much of a difference - seen a report earlier that Liverpool ticket office staff colluded with touts for years to create fake profiles to flog tickets to.

But anyway. We don't have that problem at it stands. We aren't one of the big clubs or based on London and don't get many tourists coming up here. It's solving a problem that isn't there.

Said before folk who had season tickets through the dark days should have some kind of loyalty bonus.

It’s class listening to the excuses/reasons why they haven’t got a ticket mind.

Like that lot up the road there’s no reason other than cost to not have one cos they were 2 for 1 at one point.
I will give you a good reason, I like to go to the match, but not every match.

I have a life outside of football, when someone says to me do you fancy a week or weekend away, or even a day away, I like to say yes without consulting the football fixtures.

I know I get it there are some uber fans that like to tell everyone they haven’t missed a match for 150 years, a bit like the bores at gigs who delight in telling everyone they saw this band and there was only 4 other people there, where were these 25,000 people then.

I’m sure these people would be delighted if only the 24,000 people who turned up against Accrington on that cold Tuesday night were allowed tickets for the arsenal game.

Liverpool closed down 100k last year when they found them to be bots, cheapest membership is £20.99 that allows you to 'try' and get tickets, Basically got £2m from bots trying to rip off their own fans, I'd love to know how much they make from the schemes, bet its over £10m as they have 5 levels ranging from free to £42.99.

I do some White text to say I was kidding. I live 250 miles away (Used to have a season ticket during the Reid era down here) but I'm out the game now and everyone who has turned up during our bad times deserve to ride this wave. Enjoy lads and lasses and always love watching you jammy buggers on U tube clips. It's a hard one to work out

See this is the sort of thing that needs stamping out. Loads of my London club mates down here have memberships but I'm not too sure

Gentrification of fans!

That is exactly what the Premier League want to happen, and is happening.

The London clubs already are gentrified, I can’t imagine relating to the identity of your typical match goer at Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham…. Hopefully it won’t reach here given the regions demographic; but the talk of membership schemes, concession tickets increasingly being phased out etc, suggests the club are certainly exploring it.

The worrying thing is how many people will just accept it because the club ‘need to increase its revenue streams.’

The only way I'd be fine with it is if they said its £20 and you get a £20 voucher each season for the club shop but that still doesn't sit right with me. If we wouldn't do it in League 1 I'd rather we didn't do it in the Premier League but its a business so morals dont come into it sometimes.

I know, it's shady as fuck. Todd Boehly has shares in one of the reseller sites that loads of Chelsea tickets end up on too. So fleecing fans either way.

I was thinking actually, there's going to be a generation of fans of certain clubs who will never get to see their team play. They have a remote chance of even being able to buy tickets in the first place then are priced out anyway because clubs can charge what they want knowing the touts will snap them up and sell then to tourists for a profit. The last couple of years have really opened my eyes about the reseller market and how many people come from abroad and pay over the odds for Premier League tickets without much of an interest in football because it's a tourist attraction, like someone who isn't normally into musicals buying Broadway tickets when they go to New York. There's been a real shift over the past 5-10 years of kids following players rather than teams and it's easy to see why when they're getting their football fix from Fifa and YouTube.

I have an ‘acquaintance’ who uses the mag membership with his bairns, says he only ever gets offered champion league tickets, never a league game, CL tickets minimum £50. He took the bairns to Benfica last week, says it was over £200 before a bag of crisps was bought then add on their membership costs and associated extras it’s just a scam

Any available home game tickets should be a free for all, apart fron season tickets. We shouldn't go down the membership route - it's a HUGE con peddled by top flight clubs.

Yes. Rangers.

Its called "MyGers". You cant physically apply without being a member even if youre a season ticket holder. Previously you just had to tick a box on your season card renewal forms to say you want to be in the ballot but now it goes on MyGers points which can be earned through daft things like paying for RangersTV or attending women's games. The scheme is tiered Gold, Silver and Bronze which makes the whole thing "closed shop" really.
