Membership scheme

Would you pay £50 per year for the opportunity to drive onto yer local petrol stations forecourt to buy petrol? Would you pay £50 a year to Sainsburys for the opportunity to enter your local branch to buy yer groceries? No you’d tell them to fuck off. So tell these “greedy strike while the iron is hot bastards” to fuck off anarl if/when they start asking for money for nowt.

Comes up time and again this but how’s that fair and how would it even work for building points.
Its a closed shop at minute, which is fair to certain extent for people who been away for last 10 year. But a lot of fans are still buying and selling on, maintaining points. It would have to be rationalised on allocation of match.
I don’t believe in the member scheme either, it should just be first come first served. As someone said, where were they when we were in league 1.

Man City have different levels to their membership schemes and depending on your level dictates when you can attempt to buy tickets, pretty sure they get points as well.

The kids get a gift with their membership and discount on the store and a few other perks. Adults get a one time £15 voucher for the store but also 10% off everything.
That's the thing

If you are going to have a membership at least give something back with it rather than just ticket access

U21 or women's tickets, store discount, vouchers etc

Does anybody remember the Roker Revival during McMenemy's reign. A packed Sunderland Empire. Launch of the Gold Card Scheme. This alone was the main reason for the decision to dissolve the thriving Houghton Branch of SAFCSA. Loyal fans quite rightly thought with this new elite membership, why do I have to be in two such organisations. The result was the membership dropped to just below the critical 100 members for the first time. The then ruling by the Main Branch of SAFCSA was to be able to run a branch the club needed a minimum of 100 members.
The result of this fall out, the committee decided to reluctantly dissolve, the substantial funds held were given to local charities and the Houghton Branch ceased to exist. They had previously proudly provided SAFC with equipment for example a new radio system to provide the manager sitting in the stand with contact to the dugout.Amongst other things.
Due to lack of success and McMenemy's failure to turn the tide with his promises, he did a moonlight flit. The Gold Card Scheme collapsed and was quickly forgotten.
It left a bad taste in the mouthes of some of the most fanatical supporters that I have ever known. They refused to give the funds to the regime at SAFC . The charities benefited. Those funds were used to provide discounted coaches to all away games.
I still have my Gold Card along with my old Season Ticket cards in the loft with my old programmes.
I would not join a Membership Scheme in the future. This will not stop me having Sunderland AFC on my mind 24/7 and STID.

Or £150 for you and your kids, it’s a no from me.

What they would make in memberships, they'll make 10x more in actual ticket sales if they extend the ground.

People who have been away for the last 10 year because we’ve been shite have got a cheek if they’re expecting to be anywhere near the front of the queue for anything at the minute.

Said before folk who had season tickets through the dark days should have some kind of loyalty bonus.

It’s class listening to the excuses/reasons why they haven’t got a ticket mind.

Like that lot up the road there’s no reason other than cost to not have one cos they were 2 for 1 at one point.
