It will. If we do owe Bordeaux money from Khazri (which is unconfirmed speculation, by the way), then we no longer need to pay it out, and thus that money will be freed up for other things. There may be a short term timing issue, but that can almost certianly be worked around.
Exactly this, but then why are the club putting out that statement through roker report?

No matter how you look at it, the club is £1.5 million better off for the deal.

Anar. Just strange how he's went to a team we owe money too when the gaffa didn't even know about him. I know we're trying to ship out Catts & Oviedo so hope we didn't actively move Maja on.

Probably not in the club's interest but someone should carry out an investigation into that contract, it's not as if Cattermole was flying when it was offered. People were already wondering if he was worth his place in the team back then and when his move to Stoke looked a possibility I seem to remember a general feeling that it was the right time for him to leave (not everyone obviously). The fact that a certain ceo then became his agent stinks to high heaven, I know it's been said before.

Coincidence. When she offered that contract, the last thought in her head would have been that she'd go off and become an agent because she was going to be sacked. Catts contract predated the whole Johnson saga.

Deeply concerned that we might choke now..

I'm not. We've had our blip and we are still 3rd having lost only twice
Portsmouth are in their blip and have lost 3 times in 5 games.

We have more than enough to compete and if we can figure out a way to play to Wyke's strengths then we will be fine, especially if we bring Grigg in too

One more thing I think people miss, they owners get a lot of praise for sorting out the finances paying off debts here, you have to remember all this money to do so is coming from selling players bought and developed by Short, they were already here

Its a fair enough tactic like, but Short is as equally to thank based on that logic, 8 million in for Khazri didn't appear from thin air did it

@stewartdonald3: Club is debt free bar Legacy payments to players which we agreed to cover. W have mentioned that the club had a lot of these outstanding and I believe they finish in August. They total about £5 million now left to pay. We have them covered and have created a surplus.

In reality you are right that it makes no difference really except the timing issue. However it begs the question why release the information to roker report? The only explanation i can think of is to dampen expectations. Hopefully I’m wrong like but can’t see any other reason to spread panic than that.

Looks like he will be playing at a lower level than we are at now if it's correct what their manager is saying, their U23's in some poor standard league.

That’s the surprising piece. I think he was lucky at the start of the season to get the opportunity as our only striker for a spell pre season but he seized it and is developing into a very good player. This move could stall that progression.

We'll never know, but I think it's highly unlikely that we would have sold him to Bordeaux just to settle the Khazri deal. I don't know how much we owe them, but we weren't looking to sell for a start and, once we accepted he was going,we wouldn't care which club he went as long as we were getting the money.
I agree about the agent....it seems as though he's persuaded Maja to go for the most lucrative deal he could get whilst it's on the table. It may be that the English clubs who might have had an interest wanted to see how he copes with Championship defences before splashing out. To be honest,if he thinks Maja is a one trick pony and his value will go down if the goals dry up,it's maybe understandable, even if short sighted.

You think? Its just obvious, he goes to Bordaux and a then a statement says thats the fee taking care of , not coincidence.

I wasn't saying that about the agent mate, quote the opposite, don't think he has gone for the money at all, think its a good move for him for football reasons, like it was for other players Sancho and the lad from Arsenal

They don't have them covered though, they are selling players to cover it

The roker report is exact odds of what he has just said

I’d imagine, his agent has howked him round to every club in Europe in the hope of getting himself a pay day and Bordeaux have bitten, not having to find the money upfront has probably sweetened the deal for them short term as they won’t have to pay anything out, they just won’t be getting the money later down the line.

Yes mate but the question is what will we be spending in the window & is it worth giving Maja to Bordeaux when we want to get promoted. Seems a poor deal really regardless. I know he's up in 6 month but we want to go up to attract better players.

Wasn't long ago we were looking at a loan to cover some of these costs & now we're selling Josh to a team who we owed money too to cover costs there. Would like to know how much the owners are going to put into the club to be honest. They're going to make loads off the back of it after all.

Let’s be honest here. You have absolutely no idea about how to run a 3rd division football club. Let alone a football club who was on its way to administration a few months back. In the words of Charlie Methven (in the trailer for the 2nd series of Sunderland Til I Die) ‘the club was fucked’. You can bleat on and on about money until the cows come home but you aren’t the financial expert you try to come across as. You don’t have the first understanding of football club finances and neither do 99.99% of the people on here, that’s why we don’t go on about them 24/7.
So no one can question them?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

f***ing hell

People need to realise this club nearly went bust , was completely fucked by mismanagement for past 10 years , we need to get all debts cleared IMO , not the current owners fault . Way ahead long term is to model Ourselves on Southampton say and live within our means . Still take couple year to sort out this mess
