He's from Greenwich which is a kick in the arse from Charlton so it was understandable. However, money talks, offer him a couple of grand extra a week, along with a decent signing on fee and he'll come.
I thought we offered him more than Charlton in the Summer and he still decided to sign for them.

The manner of his exit could have been undertaken with a little more tact mate.
If he had been upfront from the start, all this could have been avoided. Now he’ll always be remembered as a greedy little shithouse.

Ha'way marra. You know he never would have a single word said against Short.
That, and he’s as thick as a castle wall;)

He wants to stay so we ain’t doing something right, hope we ain’t offering him pittance. Players like him are the future of our club

Won’t be the case with Hume and Embleton from what I understand.
If your right then it's very odd.

It must be wages at the end of the day. I suppose from the clubs point of view these lads are now L1 reserves and want to pay them accordingly; but the lads would consider themselves a bit better than that.
They've come through a top academy for a team that for most of their careers was a PL side and through no fault of theirs is now on it's knees. Add to that, the fact that most of these lads will hopefully be first team players in the next season of so (injuries permitting) and they aren't going to want themselves tying down to long deals on 'low' pay.

Just on a separate point & this is a genuine question:

Can anyone remember a club selling their leading scorer in January when they were going for a title & benefiting?

Or even just in general selling the top scorer & playing better second half of season?

Limited data for us but losing Bent & Grabban killed us. Even some of the boys said about losing Bent on the RR podcast. McGeady criticised the manager for getting rid of Grabban on STID.

Agree with all of this. There’s not a single positive thing to come out of this unless we spend well and we spend big (for this division). Losing Grabban and Bent was absolutely disastrous for us. I hope they learn from this but I’m worried they’ll be looking for a “good deal” until the very last minute of the deadline and lose out. However, they’ve been great for us so far, we just need them to show some ambition and get what we need.
