He’s not as good as people think?

He’s a natural goal scorer and they’re hard to come by. At 20 years old, in his first proper season as a first team regular, I think the praise he’s had is justified.

I’d be absolutely gutted if he left.
I agree that he is a natural goalscorer and he is improving. However he can get bullied and lacks aggression. Scoring goals in League One does not means he will score goals in the Championship and certainly not the Premiership. He may do well at a higher level but equally he may just not have the ability to play at a higher level - he generally looked out of his depth last year in the Championship and I don't think many thought he was the answer last summer and felt we needed a striker in. He has surprised me and I believe he is getting better and it would be a shame if he went but I certainly won't be 'absolutely gutted' if he left. I don't think it is too difficult to get a striker who can score 20 goals a season for League One. I do think it is a lot harder to get a striker who can get 20 goals in the Championship.

Can you remember Jordan Rhodes?

He scored 23 goals in L1 at the same age as Maja and was found wanting at levels above L1. Maja’s all round game is poor. He’s absolutely no threat in the air whatsoever, has little pace and is physically as weak as piss.

Nobody knows what the agent said to Maja... for all we know, it could have been, 'hang fire for a couple of weeks, to see if something you'd like better comes along' or 'hang fire, I reckon there's another £2k a week in the deal, for you'. I have no idea how smart Josh is, how fiscally prudent or experienced he is or how much he trusts the judgment of his agent. My guess is that, neither does anyone else. Alternatively, Josh might think the grass is greener, elsewhere and is keen to sod off, or, again alternatively, his agent is exploiting him.

I think that the timing sucks, though (although it may be the case that there's no such thing as the right time for something like this).

I suggest the gist is right but we do know maja went to JR and said he was going to sign.

We don't know if he made that decision on his own, with his family (did I read his Dad was his advisor) or after talks with his agent

then we know, agent contacted sky, sky contacted SD. SD then tweeted

So are we all but we move on

Give over.

His touch and his movement along with his ability to finish in the box are superb.

The fact he isn’t a physical player is irrelevant. You don’t need to be big, strong and good in the air to be a good striker.

He does the hardest part of the game with ease.

The one thing he does have is an uncanny eye for goal. The offer we’ve made is fair but we shouldn’t be hanging out of his arse hoping he signs. I’d like to see the club set a hard deadline and if he doesn’t sign accept the first bid which meets our valuation.

I wouldn’t offer a penny more for the reasons I outlined in an earlier post.

That’s your opinion then. You obviously haven’t thought things through though.

As a complete aside I remember being in a hotel at Manchester airport one January the night before going on holiday. Huddersfield were playing in a live league 1 game. There were a family of Huddersfield supporters in, including a little boy probably about 7/8. Jordan Rhodes scored and he was so excited he was obviously his favourite player. I think it was probably about 2011/2012. Huddersfield in League 1 us in the Premier League. Less than 8/9 years later and we’ve swopped places.
It just shows how quickly things can change in football

did sd not say he had been contacted by sky, so therefore he would have been told, they were about to break the news.

so its still agent telling sky, sky contacting sd. sd tweeting

can be no other order
What matters is hes off ..we need to move on.Concentrate on those that want to be here.Happned before will again ..

 obviously.

It is my opinion and I’ll gladly stick to it thanks.

Feel free to come back to me when he’s gone and you realise how good he is.

We’ve gone from an era where all we could do was make assumptions because no information was forthcoming. If I’m going to criticise either the owners or individual players I’d rather do it from a position of knowledge.

In this case there’s no blame to apportion as the club made the player a very generous offer but the player (or his agent) think they can do better elsewhere. Good luck to the lad....he’s not as good as people think he is and £10k/week was a very generous offer.

Personally I wouldn’t play him again this season (if he stays) and concentrate on players who actually want to be here or want to come here. It’s taken a long time to arrive st this point with our club where the owners, manager and players are honest and it’s a quality I’d like to see remain.

if maja is not sold in the window, then we must make peace with the player, so we can get some benefit from him.

casting players to youth players has never ended well. Rodwell for example

Just eight years....amazing that.

He would be a huge loss at this stage of the season imho. He’s still scoring goals, when we are not playing great. If we can’t find equivalent or hopefully better, I’d continue to play him.

I’d love to know what the financial implications would be, if we keep him and took a loss at the end of season, but went up with the help of his goals.
Versus taking 2 million now, and missing out on going up?

I get the logic, but imagine getting to the play off final, and him missing a penalty v Charlton say, we lose, then it's announced he s moving to newly promoted Charlton in the summer. FECK THAT FOR A GAME OF SOLDIERS!!!!!
