That's your opinion marra and fair enough. Personally he if finishes L1 top scored on 25+ and leaves us as we get promoted then I'd take that. It's about the club not the player after all.
You make a fair point, it’s now down to the club replacing Maja with someone who will bang in 12-15 goals from now till the end of the season. If they do this with a fully committed player that would be better for the dressing room. However, if they fail to do this and let Maja go now, then it’s backfired big style.

We need fight and desire not someone who has had his head turned.

:D this is so f***ing mad. Every footballer is having their head turned almost constantly if they're playing well. It's not a zero sum game that they're either here and bought into the long haul, or they're a liability who needs to go immediately.

Once again....thanks Ellis. It's amazing that so many still wouldn't have a word said against him last season when until the very last he was creating a legacy of utter disaster.

This is just one if the many nigh on impossible situations the new owners are having to navigate.

I thought that the other day and someone rightly corrected me to say we offered him one last season under Coleman but he hung on (because we were a complete basket case) then new owners came in.

Thing is though it sounds like he does want to be here, he’s just being talked out of it by a piece of shit agent.
Because he's 19 years old and I'd imagine is relying heavily on his agent to guide him though his first ever contract dilema.

Seems like a decent kid and Ross obviously has a good relationship with him. He's under a lot of pressure from all sides and I can't hold it against him that he's doing whatever he is being told is best for his career/family.

Maja is a talented lad who offers something to SAFC. The agent is a parasite. Pretty easy to portion out blame accordingly.

Well he's 20 actually. :p

That a side though, he's a young kid, who is obviously looking to get as much money as he can, his agent is helping him do that and he doesn't have any real ties to the club.

I can't blame him, i'd do the same, however i think the decision has been his and it's his agent that is taking the fall as it will only help Maja get a better deal elsewhere.

The problem with him being allowed to run down his contract will be his commitment on the pitch, particularly in the last couple of months.
He simply isn't going to want to pick up an injury prior to June 30th.
It's not like he particularly puts himself about anyway.

He can continue that if it gets him the same goal return in the second half of the season ;)

Exactly. Now we know the full story and that the blame lies with the agent. If we intend to continue playing him it's best for all concerned that the supporters get behind him.....which is easier if he's a young lady getting bad advice than if he's a greedy, lying, so and so.

Imagine how different the supporter player relationship with someone like Hutchinson would be if this happened then

Of course he should. We'd be about 12th without his goals. As with any player, if his performance dips a then bench him. But I doubt if he will be here in a fortnight.

I know what you're saying, but that assumes that if we didn't have him we would have just played with 10 men.

I was only asking why you are bothered whether its a press release or twitter? Press releases tend to be exactly what their initials suggest - PR, often dressed up in PR-speak. I far prefer Donald's approach - clear and straight to the point. People have years criticised the club for poor communications and now we have someone who is immediate, clear and direct - he is then criticised for having a ego - bizarre - what on earth do fans want? As for your post you just came across as very pedantic and almost desperate to criticise. Apologies if I miss read you.

It’s a tweet coming straight from him, unless he runs it past people within the club first

Just think somethings need a bit of time to think about regarding a response

Not saying he will but something like this could happen after he’s a had a few glasses of wine, could end up saying anything

Could be being a fanny here mind obvs

Unavoidable truth. He can't play now if we expect other players to put everything in.

He's had since the takeover to re-sign. It's not just about today. Now that everyone knows he was never actually going to sign another contract with us anyway, regardless of promotion. Get rid.

Thanks for goals Maja.

All those saying he won't be committed and should be dropped....

If Josh Maja finishes the season as league one top scorer and we get promoted on the back of it he will likely be able to get a better contract than if he doesn't score another goal between now and then.

There is plenty incentive for him to keep doing the business, it's up to JR to determine if he's the sort to down tools. I don't think he is, but I don't work with him every day and neither does anyone else on here.

Too many eager to cut their nose off to spite their face.

Possibly. Thick skinned wankers who will rarely if ever be recognised in public take the flack for client in return for tens of £000's.

Aye, the moral of the story here is don't let talented or potentially talented players run their contracts in to the last year as if they start playing well, you're fucked every which way. Got to sort it a minimum of 18months out from end date.

Be the first time the form of a player who's heads been turned, hasn't been affected ;)

It wouldn't like. Loads of players give their all while knowing they will leave. I recall the reception Diouff got at Bolton last game of the season when he'd run his contract down....they loved him.

As it happened he came here and was a nightmare. It's not all so easy to predict.
