That’s used far too often by clubs to just describe a ‘good football player’

Maja was kicking his heels after not being offered a contract by Man City when we picked him up at just gone 16. He's been at the club 2 months shy of 4 years.

In that time he has been nurtured by an excellent academy, been gently introduced into the first team and he has developed into a full time professional footballer.

He may have made it via another route, he may not. However, to not give any credit to SAFC for his development is frankly ridiculous.

Nobody leaves SAFC and does well elsewhere. I'm 45 and to my knowledge. About 10 players have. That includes SKP.

Players in the community a lot like James, Mcgeoch, Loovens, Honeyman......and O`Nien of couse, plus the others.

Cant say i ever seen Maja doing much of that in truth, defo not over xmas as he was poorly........yeah right

He needs to be replaced ASAP or we could be in big trouble. The problem is that the current people running the club have no money which is worrying.

To be honest it helps with us being at a lower level. We haven't got lots of players (in attack and we've had injuries too) and it's a fairly low standard so it's easier to make your mark.

It's an excellent example to young players. Playing most weeks at a lower level is lot better than getting a few minutes here and there as a squad player.

Would like to express how much of an honour it was to break through into senior football at such a special club, that is Sunderland AFC. I had many blessed moments during my time at Sunderland. Wishing everyone involved with the club all the best in the future.
