3 strikers gone this window, we need 2 in now, hopefully not L1 journeymen. Think @Johnsafc was correct, said the owners wanted to sell or they wouldn't have given him a deadline. We should have just kept him until the end of the season.

Its alright saying keep him to the end of season, but what if he's tells the manager he won't play for the club again. Like he supposedly did last week.

The idea it was totally ‘debt free’ is a myth. We had the legacy payments, various legal battles and extremely high running costs. We would have to pay Bordeaux at some point so why not use this to clear us of the debt now?
I agree but the fact theyre releasing this is to temper expectations a bit imo. No reason to publicly release it if it makes zero difference.

Let’s be honest here. You have absolutely no idea about how to run a 3rd division football club. Let alone a football club who was on its way to administration a few months back. In the words of Charlie Methven (in the trailer for the 2nd series of Sunderland Til I Die) ‘the club was fucked’. You can bleat on and on about money until the cows come home but you aren’t the financial expert you try to come across as. You don’t have the first understanding of football club finances and neither do 99.99% of the people on here, that’s why we don’t go on about them 24/7.

Ok mate, great post, cheers for the input.

Hope you are saying it to the people saying it is right to do what they said, as they don't know about running a football club either do they?

Yeah exactly my point, don't understand that bit, basically means, we aren't spending much. No other reason for that statement

Thinking about it a bit more, whilst it's pivotal we replace him, we can't complain if the reported fee is £3.5 million. Again, that's another very tidy success story for the academy.

It’s just a shame people are conveniently ignoring the fact they’ve also both said it won’t impact on us going for 2 strikers.

Depends on the quality mate, I am sure we can sign 2 strikers, but if you are very restricted going to be hard to replacce Maja's quality, I'd argue anyway

Yeah, I agree. My guess is that they’re trying to maintain the transparency of the regime so far. It’s very strange to be gutted about a player departure of ours.

I know what you’re implying but Maja, his agent and Bordeaux would all have to buy into that. I personally think it’s a little bit of a far fetched theory and wouldn’t really benefit us (or Bordeaux) much anyway.

Bordeaux get a highly rated young player they could potentially sell back to England in a few year for a profit and earn more than they would be just getting in 1.5 million now, which is very little so it could be a great deal for them. The manager has no idea who is is so clearly hasn’t targeted him and his agent was reported to want him to go to Germany.

More to this than meets the eye imo.

not sure why it's been fed to RR that the Maja money is effectively nothing due to the outstanding payment for Khazri

makes you wonder if that's why it's Bordeaux he's gone to

Not massive though, we've also sold players for 15 million, its impressive that they've managed to settle all this without any of their own funds

Means we are left with a bare squad though. You don't think my point is even remotely valid?

It's not a bare squad. It needs improvement in a couple of areas....i.e. striker and creative midfield. If we address those positions by the end of next week we should be ok to get out of this league. The main bulk of the squad is good enough for promotion.
And,before you start,we can't expect the club to build a Championship squad until we're in the Championship.
