He'll be lucky to challenge for a first team place at Bordeaux. They're not really challenging for honours either.

on the flip side of your argument - I don't think he's close to being ready for what you're suggesting, even if it were the case. at 20 he'd be doing well to play regularly and keep on developing at a decent level be it league one or the championship, which he didn't look ready for last season.

I just don't think he's that good, but it's a shame for us to lose him in our current position.
They're in the French league cup semi final and they're on the periphery of the Europa League spots.

I will admit I have no idea what Bordeaux are like as a team at this moment, but such as been Maja's rise over the last year I don't see why he can't continue his development and score goals there.

his rise to regular in league in league one from sub in the championship?

He might be a bit lightweight when it comes down to it. He's more than likely to be bullied at that level of football. And he's unlikely to get regular game time just at a time when his career should be developing week by week. But he won't care too much about that as he clearly loves dosh

He is doing what is agent tells him. His agent told him his family back home (in south london!) would get a nice little 6 figure dropsie if he moved, a sum they wouldn’t have got if he had stayed at Sunderland - that was the deciding factor apparently

Nowt new. Pimp is the right word for these people. They pimp the player, and move onto the next one if he flops .

Nick Barnes twitted what had happened on Wednesday night mate......Maja cleared his locker and then informed the club he would not be coming back and off he popped.
That is a reliable source then. To be fair to Maja, reports were saying personnel terms would not be an issue and he was most likely off to a medical in France soon after. I can see why he would assume, his time at SoL was over.

£3.5m is a brilliant piece of business considering the circumstances. (Providing we sign someone else)

He’s only performed for half a season in league one and celebrates like he’s Mbappé! His lack of pace and low number of shots make me wonder if he will be able to do it against better defenders.

Anthony Stokes had scored 18 in 22 in the SPL when we signed him and he was awful for us in the Championship

Stokes isnt a bad comparison and similar level.
Awful how kids think theyre the business so young now.

We can’t just throw money around, he was behind Asoro in the potential stakes. Lets not forget it is a fine balance, we give him an improved contract last season and it didn’t turn out right, he gets shipped out we have to pay the remainder of his contract. Also if you remember, in pre season 2017 he needed knee surgery
Well let’s be honest - it wouldn’t have been ‘throwing money around’ would it? In fact it’d have probably been a significantly less wage if we had sorted it out.

If he hadn’t developed, it would have been a negligible loss. Or you loan them out to put him in the shop window.

It’s completely different to say, Cattermoles situation where we are saddled with his wages.

Well the whole discussion doesn’t matter since it’s been confirmed that he was offered an improved contract last year and offered what he wanted this year. So your claim about the club being equally to blame, is incorrect

I'd be surprised if he gets a start week in week out , if we were in the premier and were buying maja most fans would be saying he's one for the future , he's still rough round the edges but good luck to him , seems a nice lad hope he does well

Blame for what ? He is doing what I would , get the most while you can
