Leicester forum - Championship thread

They’re going to obviously have the finances to walk the league if they sell a few, but football certainly isn’t played on paper down here and plenty have found that out the hard way. I’ve always found them an arrogant bunch, hope they struggle.

A medium sized club with a solid support that have become bigger than they used to be. They have also tapped into their large floating fan base. Decent size city and only club in the city and county also attracting fans from other areas like parts of Warks, Northants other areas of East Midlands due to their recent success. Since Villa last won anything 27 years ago they have won two league cups, fa cup and the league also playing in the champions league. Historically not even close to Sunderland but you can’t keep living on history if you aren’t doing anything in the modern era to back it up . I expect them to sell out every game. Still not as big as Leeds though.

This is the point i was going to make, people act like we've a god given right to be back in the prem and we're a 'far bigger club' than x, y, z. This lot were winning the premiership at around same time we were embarking on the worst years in our entire history
This.

A lot of folk on here still living In 1973.

I personally think they’ll struggle. They seem to be loosing a lot of good players, finances look a bit of a mess too. Granted, they’ll have the money to spend after selling up there top talent but we know fine well ourselves, recruitment on the way down can be tricky & expensive if like us, the holding club doesn’t need to sell.

"We can buy anyone we want in this league. We can buy Leeds if we wanted and their players would jump at the chance to join a club as big as ours."

I’m just going to refuse to accept it’s happened. And hope we somehow get out of it straight away. I won’t cheer a goal, I won’t look forward to any games. It’s a living nightmare we just need to get out of it as soon as possible… we need to spend a lot of money and try and build a team that will piss it, and 90% of it will be able to perform in the premier league.

Fulham are a good example for me, they built a squad that got out of that league first time of asking, and then managed to do fairly well this season.

The only way Top can make up for this absolute **** fest of a season.
I’m surprised at how many are tipping us to do well - I’m used to others calling us shit.

Not sure if I like the change.

Most of us have no arrogance or feeling of entitlement believe me.
We do have an element who spout that kind of crap but it is the internet after all and they are the kind that tend to shout loudest behind the anonymity.
When you’re of an age and have been watching us for over 50 years you pretty much know most of those who have been on the journey with you by sight and on nodding terms at least and there the ones that represent Leicester in truth.
Just like Sunderland and everybody else.
They’re the ones you connect with on those special days and the ones you suffer with on the shot days.
I will still be trying to make a day of it up yours this season even though it’s midweek.
I live in Leicestershire and have lots of Leicester City supporting mates ('of an age' too like you ;) ).......and most of them are fine and quite looking forward to the Championship, playing decent clubs, having some good away days. maybe a chance of winning some games and actually 'challenging' for something again

I genuinely believe that if I was fortunate enough to be a Leicester fan, I'd have taken a back seat after the FA cup win. They've lived the dream, won everything realistically and in some ways unrealistically possible in the case of winning the Prem, during the last 25 years. What else can they do?

Swings and roundabouts. Everyone must take their turn to be big and great.
