There isn’t a single player in and around the first team at the moment, who hasn’t improved as a player under him.

That’s the mark of a good coach. Putting aside his waffle in interviews sometimes - which, let’s be honest, is irrelevant - it’s plain to see that he’s doing a fantastic job with the players on the training pitch. That’s going to be crucial if the new idea is (rightly) to buy young players and improve them.
I agree with all of this…we are playing some great stuff. One area he needs to look at however and I hope he does is the nature and timing of his substitutions.
When Evans was injured yesterday Winchester should have slotted into midfield and Younger brought on at right sided centre back/full back (where Bailey Wright has been so impressive)with Gooch providing cover for the long diagonal ball to our right side which they targeted in the last stages of the game. At the very least after we scored someone should have been sacrificed for Younger/Arby to provide more protection in front of Patterson….Flanagan and Doyle were never going to be enough with Wycombe throwing 5/6 six foot plus into the 6 yard box.
We are scoring some wonderful footballing goals….but these are too often wiped out by agricultural balls into a crowded box. The stats show we were comfortably the better team the result shows we dropped two points.

Read it again . Whenever we have played a decent side we conceded goals . That’s what I am on about . Big strong attritional sides and we don’t cope defensively. Pompey, Rotherham, Sheff Wed and Wycombe . That’s a concern
That'll be the Wycombe we beat 3-1 and the Sheff Wed we beat 5-0 is it?
Conceding 3 goals in L1 is a tad worrying.

Will only give him credit if we’re top 2 by the end of the season
How very magnanimous of you.

This. Can imagine that was one of few remits. Get us promoted
If he doesn't, think he will get peddled. Had two cracks at the whip and think it is make or break

What worries me still, despite our form, when we have a blip, it's a blip of massive scale

Those of us who he won over from an indifferent opinion are now happy at the style of play, the 2ppg, the unbeaten run, the team spirit, the inclusion of home grown youth, the selection of a young average age team with regular appearances for U23s, the midfield of Embo/Niel/Pritchard and Evans or Winchester, the form of Wright at RB, The hugely improved Stewart and our superb home record. All of this while facing into a genuine injury crisis.
Im happy to credit LJ with all of the above (it’s why I didn’t include recruitment in the list). If we don’t get promoted then a lot of that list will disappear and that will also be down to LJ. If he can keep it together we will get promoted and he will get a new contract. If he doesn’t we won’t and if the early signs from the sporting director, are as good in scouting 1st team coaches as they have been at player recruitment then he probably will be replaced.

LJ is still in building mode and is doing a great job, we have some really exciting young players at the club who with the right system and confidence will go on to bigger and better things...

Well as it stands, if you extrapolate Wigan’s points after they’ve played the same number of games he’s failing still isn’t he? And if he isn’t what was his remit in the first place?

Give him til the end of the season and reassess

If we don't go up he can fuck off
Followed by another rebuild and a new style, which because it takes time to do probably won’t achieve promotion in year 1 meaning sacking, and another rebuild and new style and so it continues. In the meantime smaller teams with smaller budgets will get promoted after giving a good manager 2-3 years to build.

The structure with speakmen and Harvey should help the process she shouldn't fail twice with a club like us and continue

Long way to go.

We’re playing some excellent stuff but if we don’t go up this season it’ll ultimately be a failure.

We can’t be spending another season in this division.

Won't be a change in style. That's set higher up, and applies to all levels from U11 up (and also to the ladies team). Any coach appointed will have to fit that.

Win on Tuesday and Saturday and I think we will go up. Lincoln have 4 key players out and our home record is amazing. Just have to keep playing like we did in the 2nd half yesterday and get our injuries back.

Any news on Roberts?

Deserves huge praise I think this last couple month, depleted squad and has more than kept us in touch. He is improving players and has a record of getting the best out of strikers.

We play the best football I've seen from any side since we came down to League one. He seems to have found a way to get us competing against physical sides after the early season blip. Its a joy to watch us at times, haven't said that for years.

If we do miss out then I think he'll be given another season. But I dont see two sides finishing ahead of us as long as Stewart stays fit.
Got to admit he’s turning me round, he’s defo done a good job in difficult circumstances. There’s no doubt we’ve got the biggest wage bill in the division but he hasn’t spent a lot of money on transfers and brought though and improved a few youth players.
