Is there not an element thay recruiting proper footballers like Pritchard, leaves you vulnerable to very physical sides? You probably cant have both at this level.

The team is a mix though and also includes defenders. Clearly there was a lack of physique centrally and a lack of experience at the back and as much as Pritchard when given an extended run (something that wasn't looking likely until McGeady's injury) has helped the football side of things, Bailey Wright at the back has made us much more resolute, Gooch instead of Cirkin helped as well - Cirkin will be a good footballer, but his lack of physique was being targeted and bringing Wright in allowed Winchester to go centrally, when Evans hadn't returned to form after injury.

Leading up to the poor spell we also were struggling to actually get out of defence playing football as well, but continued to try to do that with naivety at the back and Pritchard wasn't featuring too much anyway.

I wanted him gone, happy he will get the season now, but im a little indifferent on him as a manager.

Finally seemed to sort our defensive issues, but then a change in system today may have affected us I thought. Should have kept the 3 at the back, options are limited but Flanagan and Doyle in a 2 don't fill me with confidence, Arby and Younger on the bench. Also his game management is still questionable, not making a sub after taking the lead 3-2, to waste time and sure up the defence was an error.

He deserves credit for turning the form back around and the way he has us playing. Still shit scared of going on another bad run.

He got slated when he used to bring Wright on for attacking player to sure things up

Deserves huge praise I think this last couple month, depleted squad and has more than kept us in touch. He is improving players and has a record of getting the best out of strikers.

We play the best football I've seen from any side since we came down to League one. He seems to have found a way to get us competing against physical sides after the early season blip. Its a joy to watch us at times, haven't said that for years.

If we do miss out then I think he'll be given another season. But I dont see two sides finishing ahead of us as long as Stewart stays fit.
Brilliant post and if we don’t go up, I would keep him without a doubt. Abuse coming my way creating a young hungry squad.

He deserves credit, If we don’t go up I wouldn’t give him another term tho, we can wave goodbye to the likes of Stewart, Prichard etc This is why it’s a must we go up. I’d love to see them in the championship in a red and white shirt.
There's just as much chance we'd lose them should we lose momentum and struggle after promotion. Not many players enjoy their football in a side losing games almost every week. A lot of sides have failed to stick there after promotion, we need to be ready.

We're still building here and will almost certainly be looking for additions to the centre of our defence, which playing the way we do, is way short of a decent championship standard. We need some recovery pace there and a little steel wouldn't go amiss either.

Whatever happens I'd give the bloke time to build a core of young players who are ready to hold us together in the championship. I'm certainly not advocating it and I think we have an excellent chance to make it this season but, while one more season down here might be galling for most, in the medium to long term it may not necessarily prove to be an unmitigated disaster.

It's great he's trying to get us out of this tough physical league by playing passing stylish football.

I honestly think if we go up this season & with the right 4 or 5 additions -- we'll be right at the top of the Championship this time next year.

Yeah he seems to have to whole team playing for each other, everyone was busting a gut for each other and putting their body on the line. He brand of football is a breath of fresh air after the last few seasons, questions need to be asked if we don't go up but I think he is doing just fine.

Can’t disagree with any of that. Best football I’ve seen us play in years

I would stick with him, people have this fantasy scenario whereby a manager gets one full season here and if we arent promoted they must be sacked.

Johnsons had a lot to deal with, has us playing good football, has transformed the squad from an older set of players to younger. He seems to have improved numerous individuals and has a clear plan for players development.

Even if he didnt get us up, i’m not really sure if theres an obvious and available candidate out there who would make us any better.

I just hope he gets us up so we arent debating the above.

In a lot of games away we haven't played good mind

We're building something and he's a good fit, I'd still keep him
This. He's won me over. I wasn't happy about his appointment and thought he deserved the boot at the end of last season. I also thought he was lucky to keep his job when we were getting battered this season. I think his hard work is starting to pay off. I'd be happy to keep him even if we fail to be promoted this season, although questions need to be asked why.
