There's no way Anderson should be playing every test either at his age. So there is no other option.

For what it's worth, I don't mind Root as a captain. I think he certainly makes mistakes but he gets dragged a lot more than he deserves.

On this occasion, he made the wrong call to bat when he won the toss. I'm sure he's made a similar error in the pass.
Nonetheless, he's our best player and the only real candidate for captaincy.
