Jack Clarke

He did score home and away against Fulham in the cup, though. I dunno why people use the mag game as a referendum on Clarke, he was our only potential threat, we had Pritchard on the right and Rusyn up front.
Also every time he got the ball at his feet they doubled up on him

Have you any idea how much a football pension would be on £15K a week? 😂
His workplace one probably decent when he can claim it at retirement age. But it’s a long way to there. From his pfa one that he can claim early (40 I think it is) probably not that much. It gets about 7 grand a year put in for however long he plays. Why are you expecting someone who is earning at the rate they do to keep earning less than they can just because it’s the football team you support
*Sitting on the bench in the Premier League
Playing in the premier league. He has played some part in every game he has been there.

The bottom line is all I have ever said is Clarke should have waited for a more established team to come in for him.

Now that might been 6 months or a year. Losing out on extra money for that period is neither here or there when you're a multi millionaire.

I say that as someone who has barely earned more in a year than what Jack Clarke was getting every fortnight at Sunderland.

Good footballers get paid stupid money. They aren't waiting for their next pound.
That's your issue though, isn't it? Having those expectations.

He scored 2 in 2 versus Fulham
We played the mags when we were at a low ebb. Beale was in charge and Roberts was injured so all our eggs were in the Clarke basket.

He had a bad day. It happens. It doesn't mean he's not up to it in the Premier League. But that doesn't mean he'll make it at Ipswich either. Some players don't fit with certain clubs. It happens all the time.

And what if that offer never came...and Ipswich do the unthinkable and actually stay up, whilst he could still be in this division next season?

It was a complete no brainer of a move for him, assuming no other club in the top flight came in for him.

Stay in Championship with no guarantee of promotion?

Or go have a chance of playing PL football for at least 1 season?

I don't agree, it's allowed.

He cannot get into the starting line-up in a team that's in a relegation battle.

That says a lot. If you're playing against him just show him the line. Roberts is the same, one- trick. That's generally not good enough at Premier league level.

Didn't Fulham field a weakened team in the FA Cup?

In 22/23 he got a quarter of his assists with his left, I don't think he's a one trick pony.

No idea about Fulham. He was up against Tete who has played 100 games for them. I don't agree with the Newcastle game being that relevant to much tbh, given what a poor state the club was in and how badly we were set up. If a poster was expecting Clarke to dominate Newcastle's defence, that's on them - not Clarke.

I also think he was a bit overrated on here - particularly on price - and am not convinced he'll be a premier league player for most of his career.

I think he's suited to transition football (so Ipswich isn't a bad fit), which means he'll be limited to playing in the lower ends of the PL if anything, as he's not tricky enough or good enough at passing for teams that dominate possession

You've typed that out without even believing it yourself.

He's better than all three of those combined.
Mayenda was tremendous on Saturday. Jack Clarke was very good for us but he had his limitations. Tommy Watson is very similar to Clarke and I think he will develop along the same lines as Clarke. His performances at U21 level have been excellent. Mundle is a stronger player than Clarke though somewhat erratic. I'm sure he will get better. Perhaps I should have said that I see no point bringing Clarke back with those three available. I'm not convinced he'd be a shoe in.

Off the bench out of position. Living the dream.

No it wont. You can't easily live on £1m from 35 year old. Certainly not comfortably. And you absolutely can't then also support your family, provide financial security to your kids etc.
What he said was invest £1m at 25 and don't touch it. At 35 it isn't going to be £1m anymore, it's going to be a lot more.

Ipswich signed him for next season. Their squad is probably the better championship players last season. They've signed them to have a go if they go down next season

Does he really enjoy sitting on the bench and watching defeats mostly every week?
To be fair the tractor boys have only lost 5 out of 12 and 2 of those were Man City and Liverpool. I agree with your sentiment though.

Ian Harte really has fucked this lads development by pushing for moves away, he hardly playing these days, I can see him going out on loan inn January more than likely.
Loan? Givower.

Yes they did as my Cottager marra delighted in pointing out.
