Jack Clarke

Not when you retire there isn’t

Normal people don't seem to be able to grasp the money footballers earn.

Clarke had already had a big move to Spurs, pocketed about a 10% signing on fee of a £1M, then 3 years wages at about £1M per season.

He would have been getting about £500K a season here for a couple of years here.

So basically he's had about £5M, less 40% tax so £3M through his hands.

He didn't need a big money move unless he has gambling issues. He'd already had more money than most people earn in 2 lifetimes and was still earning about £750K a year after a recent rise.

I would put my happiness and well being ahead of money but it takes all sorts...

So when you get to 36-37 and hang up your boots the amount you have in your bank account doesn't matter???
Not with the wages these lads are pulling in. He invests £1m sensibly before he's 25, doesn't touch it and retires at 35, in a decade it'll have set him up for life. Unless he's wanting yachts and Lambo every year.

No it wont. You can't easily live on £1m from 35 year old. Certainly not comfortably. And you absolutely can't then also support your family, provide financial security to your kids etc.

Your opinion. Suppose it depends on the lifestyle he's wanting and if that's the only money he's investing (it won't be). He'll be buying houses, watches and all kinds of other shite like they do. Half the PL are landlords of one sort or another.

Still think £1m as a pension pot would give you a canny nest egg football lifestyle, kids and WAGs aside. I'd bet Jamie Vardy's wishing he'd stuck a bit more away mind. 🤣

100% this ^^

Although I also wish the lad well and I hope it works out for him at Pisswich. He seemed a decent lad.

Well it isn't unreasonable to imagine us going up. And them coming down in front of 30k
It’s also not unreasonable to suggest they stay up and we stay down but aside from that they are all ifs buts and maybes. The facts are they are in the premier league and we are in the championship. So again why would he have been better off staying
His agent has totally fucked him over like 😆😆 couldn’t happen to a nicer tosser than Hartey. Won’t be getting too many clients in future I’d imagine.
Proper fucked him. Probably on about 30k a week more and playing in the premier leagues. Awful

Of course you can!!!

You can have 5 years off, retrain and change career.

Or you could keep working take a slice of the £1m each year to supplement the wages.

Or live off the interest.

Or invest it.

If I'd had £1m in the bank as a 35 year old I would have been doing cartwheels. I would never have had to worry about money again. Pay off the mortgage. Don't need a Ferrari.

People saying he has been there 2 minutes need to look at how the lad Shmoditz or whatever he’s called and Delap are doing and they have also just been there 2 minutes but are doing so much better. Just my opinion of course but I really don’t have a feeling that this move is going to work out for Clarke and he ends up back at Leeds.

1. Clarke had played in the Premier League before and failed. Not surprising that there weren't huge numbers of Prem teams beating his door down to sign him
2. Plenty of players look fantastic for one team, and never look half as good again in a different side

This is batshit stuff as well. Why would you want to retrain for 5 years to go and live the next 30 years earning 50k a year as a spark or something when you can earn enough to make sure you never have to do something you don’t want to again in your life and set your kids up so they don’t either. Just live off the interest, so just go for 50k a week to 50k a year 😂 just to keep some football supporters happy

You’ve a real issue with us don’t you. Did we cost you an accumulator last season or something?

McKenna has taken us from 11th in League 1 to the premier league in three seasons with a total transfer spend of 5m. We’ve then spent this summer admittedly but have found our feet and getting results to match plenty of excellent performances.

Most neutrals thought we were the better team today against man United after an away win at spurs who’ve just gone and tonked Man City 4-0 themselves.

I know you’re desperate to be relegated based on other conversations on other threads. I can only assume maybe us going up annoyed you enough for you to be willing us to be rubbish every week. When in reality we’re giving it a right good go. We’ve a decent run of fixtures now until Christmas so hopefully some performances like today will get some wins.

You're going down.

If you invest £1M it should give you an income £80K a year at least. Plus his pension.

Maybe he wasn’t happy
